Cryptanalysis is the study of methods for obtaining the meaningful message from the encrypted information without access to the secret key information that is essential for decryption. One important task in cryptanalysis when only the cipher text is available is: identification of the encryption method used. The focus of this work is on identification of the encryption method. In this work, support vector machine based methods are explored for identification of encryption method from a given cipher text. This task is considered as a pattern classification task. One approach is proposed to the identification of encryption method using the support vector machines (SVM). In this approach, the cipher text is given as input to a classifier. Because of the complexity involved in the chosen encryption methods, the performance of the classifier using the cipher text is very poor. Hetero-association models built using support vector regression (SVR) are considered for generating the partially decrypted text. Different methods are considered to represent a cipher text or a partially decrypted text by a feature vector. This feature vector is given as input to an SVM based classifier.

Vector control is a method for dynamic control of the speed torque and power factor of the induction motor through permanent control of the intensity and the angle of the space vectors of the electromagnetic variables. The basic idea of the Field Oriented Control (FOC) algorithm is decoupling the stator current into flux and torque producing components. Both components can be controlled separately after decoupling. The structure of the motor controller is then as simple as that for a separately excited DC motor. Direct vector FOC control system is based on measurement, acquisition and (or) estimation of the space angle of the rotor's flux. Unlike the control system which is oriented to the space vector of the rotor's flux, on the dynamic model in a d-q coordinate system of IM and PWM of the voltage inverter, thereby using linear control technique and linear controllers, the direct torque control systems (DTC) are based on the space angle of the stator flux, on the dynamic model of the induction motor in a stationary frame of reference and on the space-vector modulation of the inverter. DTC method is based on non-linear control techniques and non-linear controllers.

A text-to-speech (TTS) synthesis system converts natural language text into speech. However, written text of a language contains both standard words (SWs) and non-standard words (NSWs) like numbers, abbreviations, synonyms, currency, and dates. These NSWs cannot be detected by an application of “letter-to-sound” rule.This work try to produce Amharic TTS system, which handle both standard words(SWs) and Non-standard words (NSWs) of Amharic language. The model described in this work has two major parts: Natural language processing (NLP) and Digital signal processing (DSP). The NLP handles the text analysis (transcription of the input SWs and NSWs) and extraction of the speech parameters. The DSP further enable to generate the artificial speech. Finally, the performance of the system shows that on the average 73.35% words both SWs and NSWs correctly pronounced. In addition, an assessment of intelligibility and naturalness of synthesized speech using MOS testing techniques results a score of 3 and 2.83, respectively.The experiment shows a promising result to design an applicable system that synthesis both SWs and NSWs for unrestricted text of a language.

The aim of this research was to investigate the level of conceptual and procedural understanding of linear algebra concepts among first and second year university students. An initial pilot study provided enough evidence, to convince the researcher to design a theoretical framework to pursue an alternative approach for the teaching and learning of a group of linear algebra concepts. Based on the methodology a number of case studies were carried out and the outcome from the tests, interviews and concept maps were analysed. We propose detailed classifications of different calibration methods for catadioptric systems and a novel non-central catadioptric sensor autocalibration approach. The first part provides most calibration approaches found in literature classified based on basic common criteria between these methods and widely used assumptions employed by them. Currently there is no such detailed classification considering all these criteria and assumptions together. We cover both central and non-central catadioptric systems and show how frequently certain assumptions are taken in order to calibrate different catadioptric systems.
