Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)is an important tool for geosciences,remote sensing, surveillance,& reconnaissance now a day. In this work,a definition of UWB SAR image quality measurements is presented and the measurements for the UWB SAR images are performed. The most important SAR image quality assessments are spatial resolution, differential resolution, ISLR and PSLR. It is seen that elliptic areas are more suitable for delimitation of mainlobe and sidelobe areas of a UWB SAR image than rectangular areas for measurements of ISLR and PSLR. For this purpose a newly defined Impulse Response Function (IRF-SAR) is used instead of the widely used sinc function. In this book, the simulated CARABAS-II data is employed and the simulations are performed by Matlab. Global back projection (GBP), a time domain algorithm is used due to its time-domain characteristics such as extreme range migration handling and manageable motion compensation. But its main limitation is computational cost. This book uses a simple and causal writing style to presents the SAR image quality measurements pleasantly and nicely so that readers can enjoy it easily.

The approach taken in this paper is to operate the machine vision in time synchrony with the position sensing and to restore the blurred pixel data with the image restoration technique. The main concepts are demonstrated using an experimental test bed and a commercial probe card. Compared to the existing stop-and-go approach, the proposed technique can substantially enhance the inspection speed without additional cost for major hardware change.

In addition to penetration and core trajectory, mapping the mass flux in space and time is an important part of modeling evaporation and global equivalence ratio throughout the combustor. Accurate prediction of these spray characteristics allows for a stable and robust combustor design. Presented are the results of measurements using Phase Doppler Analyzer, PDA, and a time resolved, digital, particle imaging velocimetry system, TRDPIV. The measurements include instantaneous and time-averaged liquid phase velocity fields, spray penetration and core location in the near field and far field of the spray resulting from the liquid jet breakup.

These parameters are used to retrieve the effective permittivity and permeability. Simulations have been carried out for different shapes of microstrip patch antenna in the microwave regime of Low Earth Orbit and Medium Earth Orbit satellites. Based on the methodology, optimization of structure is proposed for the application of metamaterials as antenna substrate to primarily enhance directivity by minimizing its refractive index.

Laser velocimetry is an optical technique for velocity measurements; it is based on light scattering by tiny particles assumed to follow the flow, which allows the local fluid flow velocity and its fluctuations to be determined. It is a widely used non-intrusive technique to measure velocities in fluid flows, either locally or in a map. This book presents the various techniques of laser velocimetry, as well as their specific qualities: local measurements or in plane maps, mean or instantaneous values, 3D measurements. Flow seeding with particles is described with currently used products, as well as the appropriate aerosol generators. Post-processing of data allows us to extract synthetic information from measurements and to perform comparisons with results issued from CFD codes. In order to determine the tectonic content of the apron, a weather-protected measuring system was developed, which detects the position of disturbances by seismic channel waves. There are two methods for mapping: 1. The Through-Transmission Measurement provides information about a fault in the seam 2. The reflection measurement provides information about the situation. A great sense of accuracy can be achieved with combined use of both methods. The analysis of 111 measurements shows that geological conditions made the accuracy of the measurements very good, while in geologically complex structures the location of the disturbance proved to be very difficult. The loss of resolution associated with envelope formation prevents the detection of clutter. To remedy this situation, the reflected Flözwellenzug must be attributed to a needle pulse. Theoretical investigations confirm this approach. Since flute waves are subject to absorption - the higher the frequency, the stronger the absorption - and the loss of energy in reflection occurs, research in this area still needs to be done in order to use the insights gained in data processing. The aim of this work was to perform quality control (QC) for six digital fluoroscopy units used for cardiovascular and interventional radiology procedures. Measurements were based on the QC protocol developed in the framework of European Commission (EU) DIMOND III project. Measurements made included: beam quality (half-value layer, HVL), peak tube voltage (kVp) accuracy, automatic exposure control(AEC) and patient dose in terms of entrance surface air kerma rate plus image intensifier input air kerma rate. Dose measurements were made using Calibrated dose rate meter. Field limitation and source to skin distant measurements in addition to evaluation radiation protection tools for occupation exposure were performed. Image quality was evaluated in terms of spatial resolution and Contrast detail detectability. Patient dose measurements was performed using polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) patient equivalent phantom whereas image quality was assessed using Huettner Type 53 spatial frequency grating and TO10 contrast detail phantom.
