Multimedia technologies have recently provided a number of new elements such as audio- video, text, graphic, animation. These elements help the teacher in recreating real life experiences in the classroom which can only be described in words so far. But the effective learning, resulting from the use of Multimedia technologies in education, depends upon a number of social and personal factors like the attitude of students towards Multimedia Technologies. It is considered important for two main reasons; firstly, the attitude which an individual has influences his learning to a considerable extent. Secondly, the possession of favourable attitude towards Multimedia technologies is an important characteristic of a scientifically literate person. Thus, the measurement of attitude in this study is done by evaluating the student's reaction (positive and negative) towards all important aspects of Multimedia Technology as well as by his/her opinion, feeling, like or dislike towards Multimedia Technology.Naturally, a student with favourable attitude towards Multimedia Technology would be familiar with its latest tools and their application in the field of education.

Women have been researched extensively as victims of abuse and neglect, whereas men have been excluded out as likely targets of benevolent and hostile sexist attitudes. This empirical study has indeed opened up this new dimension of study to evaluate the overall influence of variables such as gender-role beliefs, social dominance orientation, authoritarianism, ethnicity, age, level of education and gender as determinants and co-variates of ambivalent sexist attitudes. It is a must read for all scholars who are interested in attitude, gender and social relations.

Doctoral Thesis / Dissertation from the year 2014 in the subject Economics - Case Scenarios, grade: B, Atlantic International University, course: PhD Economics, language: English, abstract: Corruption has become one of the most notoriously persistent and progressively worsening social problems afflicting Zimbabwe today, and this is indisputable. Corruption is most unwanted in the society especially by those not involved, but it is blamed by those who practice it, just to divert attention. Important to note is that corruption is as old as the government, total elimination is impossible, but it should be barred to reach serious levels. This study seeks to empirically investigate the nature of corruption in Zimbabwe. The study uses a questionnaire approach to explore various dimensions of existing corruption and its impact on the society. A total of 835 participants countrywide correctly completed the questionnaire and electronically submitted. Included in this total are questionnaires that were hand distributed. The study utilises the weighted average approach to design various indices for policy derivation. On a scale of 1-10, the corruption index intensity was found to be 6.8 indicating serious levels of corruption in the economy. Nepotism/Favouritism/Cronysim and bribery/kickbacks/gifts have been found to be the major corruption forms in the society. A deep study of the image of Oriental culture in women travel literature between 1717 and 1893 proves that most women travellers did not adopt an attitude of superiority towards Oriental culture. On the contrary, most of these travellers showed strong interest in that different culture. Some of them went as far as to admire and adopt many aspects of Oriental culture. These ideas question Edward Said's presumed relationship between travel literature and Imperialism. Indeed, most women travellers did not give their travelling a political dimension and did not adopt an attitude of superiority towards Oriental culture.

This book is drawn from my PhD dissertation in forensic accounting. The dissertation deals with fraud and corruption in Cameroon and Nigeria. Fraud and corruption have eaten deep into the fabric of most economies with grievous effects that have limited the growth and infrastructural development of many nations and led many firms to the road of bankruptcy. Fraud is rarely seen but the symptoms of fraud are usually observed. The book is based on a comparative study aiming to determine the level of fraud and corrupt practices in Nigeria and Cameroon, and how to curb this menace. Since this study intends to compare fraud and corruption (FAC) practices in the public sector in these two countries, the broken trust theory was preferred because it provides a framework to uncover the determinants of possible motivations behind FAC practices in the public sector of an economy. To achieve this, an empirical study was conducted in Nigeria and Cameroon. The findings of this study research apply to the majority of African countries, and the book provides a roadmap for an effective and efficient way of fighting fraud and corruption in the African continent.

The findings suggest that youth who have high level of peer pressure, low level of HIV knowledge, high attitude towards sexuality, low level of self-esteem and high on risk taking behaviors are more vulnerable towards HIV risk. There was a significant gender difference in level of HIV risk perception, HIV knowledge, peer pressure, attitude towards alcohol and drug, attitude towards sexuality, and risk taking behaviors. The finding suggest that male and female differs in the level of HIV risk perception, HIV knowledge, peer pressure, attitude towards alcohol and drug, attitude towards sexuality and risk taking behaviors. This study of corruption applies an empirical test to the institutional theory developed by Andrei Shleifer and Robert Vishny (1993). That allows public officials, when providing a bundle of governmental goods, to act as a monopolist and can organize themselves in three distinct forms of organizations thus inflicting a wide array of corruption levels and consequently diverse impacts on Economic Development. After analyzing the impact of corruption on economic growth using the methodologies employed in the relevant literature, I found empirical support for both the “grease of the wheel” and “economic cancer” arguments in my analysis. And what will determine the type, level and general impact of corruption on a society is precisely its own governing institutional framework (as per determined by Douglas North). Although the author does not condone, approve or support any corruption activities, the most curious empirical support found on this study was not that excessive corruption is corrosive for the development of a society and economic development. But that the cost involved on spending excessively in controlling corruption, far outweigh its achieved benefits.

Why a book about corruption in organization now?The right time for this book has come for several reasons.First, the study of the effects of corruption in the workplace has become one of the 21st century's most exciting and burgeoning fields of research. Corruption and its variants have been studied across a number of disciplines, including psychology, sociology, economics, law, political science and of course management. The current discussion about corruption in organizational studies is one of the most growing, most fertile and perhaps most fascinating ones.Corruption is also a construct that is multilevel and can be understood as being created and supported by social and cultural interaction. As a result, an ongoing dialogue on corruption permeates the levels of analysis and numerous research domains in organizational studies. Thus I see a major opportunity and necessity to look on corruption from a multilevel and multicultural perspective.Second, in the global society of the world today where organizational boundaries are becoming increasingly transparent and during the Global Crisis, which has been rooted in unethical and corrupt behavior of large corporations, a deeper understanding of corruption, its forms, typologies, ways to increase organizational immunity and the best practices how to fight against corruption that are particularly significant and can also uncover it means that individuals, groups, organizations and whole societies can be used to sustain a sens...

South African education is presently facing major challenges. It is widely recognised that it is essential to transform the apartheid-based system of the past into an egalitarian one. There were imbalances and inequalities amongst separate education departments. The blacks were the most disadvantaged. For the purpose of the empirical investigation a prepared questionnaire was administered to 300 grade 12 learners of six secondary schools. The data obtained from the completed questionnaire were processed and analysed by means of descriptive and inferential statistics. From the empirical investigation it was concluded that the quality of an education system is more dependent on the attitude of the teachers than any other single factor. The absence of a culture of teaching and learning in schools can be reversed by the inviting attitude of the teachers.

The Republic of Georgia remains characterized by an unstable socio-political economy and by gross levels of economic inequality, corruption, ineffective policing, a weak judiciary, and a limited free and independent press. Currently, sixty-five percent of the population continue to live under the poverty level thus facilitating participation in crime and corruption to survive economically. Following initial independence from the Soviet Union separatist and nationalistic movements, resulting in the secession of several regions and the creation of hundreds of thousands of internally displaced Georgians. Georgia's post-soviet history included violent political purges, including inter-political party violence, bomb attacks, and murders. Official corruption remains problematic and includes individuals at all levels of government. This exploratory narrative analysis of media coverage of crime, corruption, and politics in post-Soviet Georgia illuminates the early development of a free press while reflecting Georgian attitudes about politics and corruption. The analysis includes preelection newspaper coverage of the November 2003 parliamentary poll beginning in late August 2003, the Rose Revolution in November 2003, resulting in the resignation of President Eduard Shevardnadze, and the socio-economic and socio-political events preceding and following the election of new President Mikhail Saakashvili from January 2004 through the end of March 2004.

Reports abound in academic literature of the menace caused by this educational malaise in developed and developing countries. Various governments, school authorities and examination bodies have devised punitive measures to tackle it but to no avail. Therefore, this book provides a new approach for curbing examination malpractices. This new strategy is a proactive framework consisting of study habits and examination anxiety as correlates of students attitude towards examination malpractices while gender and personality type were considered as moderator variables. The profile of a student who is likely to engage in examination malpractices could be inferred from measures of their study habits, examination anxiety, personality type and attitude towards cheating in examinations and then preventive counseling could be provided to reform them. College authorities, Counselors, Psychologists, Examination Bodies, and all Stakeholders in education will find this book very useful in curbing exam malpractice

The Corrupt Elites is a simple and straight-forward narrative in which explains the incidence of corruption or the rise of corruption within successive historical conjunctures in the Ghana. Some of the questions raised and answered in the study relate to how the Ghanaian precolonial, colonial and post-colonial states and their mutually interrelated political processes affected the production and distribution of wealth. In particular, how political decisions and interests of the political elites influenced the location of economic activities and the distribution of the costs and benefits of these activities. An explanation is given as to why corruption has festered in the Ghanaian polity and recrudesced from the 1990s with such devastating social, economic and political effect. The purpose of this essay is to substantiate the assumptions underpinning the narrative with concrete historical evidence.

The purpose of this book is to examine the long run relationship between economic growth and corruption in Bangladesh over the period 1984-2008. In this study, I have extended the neoclassical model of economic growth by Solow (1956) including human capital and public sector explicitly at first. Then, I have incorporated corruption into the augmented model using a specific functional form for total factor productivity and three other channels to show impact of corruption on real GDP per capita. To investigate empirically the existence of a long run relationship or co-integration between corruption and real GDP per capita, I have used Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) Bounds Test method. The results of co-integration test confirms that there is a long run relation among corruption, GDP per capita and other determinants of GDP over the study period. Provides the basics of spacecraft orbital dynamics plus attitude dynamics and control, using vectrix notation Spacecraft Dynamics and Control: An Introduction presents the fundamentals of classical control in the context of spacecraft attitude control. This approach is particularly beneficial for the training of students in both of the subjects of classical control as well as its application to spacecraft attitude control. By using a physical system (a spacecraft) that the reader can visualize (rather than arbitrary transfer functions), it is easier to grasp the motivation for why topics in control theory are important, as well as the theory behind them. The entire treatment of both orbital and attitude dynamics makes use of vectrix notation, which is a tool that allows the user to write down any vector equation of motion without consideration of a reference frame. This is particularly suited to the treatment of multiple reference frames. Vectrix notation also makes a very clear distinction between a physical vector and its coordinate representation in a reference frame. This is very important in spacecraft dynamics and control problems, where often multiple coordinate representations are used (in different reference frames) for the same physical vector. Provides an accessible, practical aid for teaching and self-study with a layout enabling a fundamental understanding of the subject Fills a gap in the existing literature by providing an analytical toolbox offering the reader a lasting, rigorous methodology for approaching vector mechanics, a key element vital to new graduates and practicing engineers alike Delivers an outstanding resource for aerospace engineering students, and all those involved in the technical aspects of design and engineering in the space sector Contains numerous illustrations to accompany the written text. Problems are included to apply and extend the material in each chapter Essential reading for graduate level aerospace engineering students, aerospace professionals, researchers and engineers.

Job Satisfaction is the Psychological disposition of people toward their work and this involves a collection of numerous attitudes or feelings. It involves a delineation of those factors that an employee perceives to either foster a positive attitude towards work or a negative attitude to work. Research devoted solely to the study of medical professionals and their job satisfaction is very scarce and the study of job satisfaction in relation to emotional competency, personality, organizational health, spousal support, job characteristics and daily hassles of medical professionals namely Doctors, Social Workers, Nurses and Physiotherapists are very scarce. Highest levels of Job Security were experienced by Doctors and high levels of Self Awareness have been reported amongst Nurses and Physiotherapists. Social Workers had the highest levels of Self Management. These professionals have the highest service orientation and their jobs aim towards helping the challenged lot of the society. Hence, they tend to be duty conscious when compared to all other group of professionals.

The study of African language pedagogy and use in the Diaspora was initiated in the 1960s as African countries attained independence from colonial powers. In the continent, the enthusiasm for the use of indigenous languages and scholarship has remained relatively moderate as scholars are conflicted in their loyalty to imperial languages. The attitude towards the use of African languages by African leaders has also hampered scholars' efforts to create and sustain the needed visibility for African languages around the world. Needless to say, the study of African languages is not only critical to the study of language theories but also important in changing Africa's overwhelming reliance on European languages to communicate with each other. The reliance has not only affected the politics of the continent but also its economic wellbeing. An analysis of the enormous developmental challenges facing the African continent will reveal that many of the economic, social, political and cultural challenges have major language components. It can actually be said that the challenges of development in Africa are either outright language challenges or are language- based. More significantly, at the social level in many parts of the continent, African languages are now perceived as inadequate means of communication. Language Pedagogy and Language Use in Africa discusses the importance of teaching and using of African languages in the African continent and beyond and provides illustrati...

Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Energy Sciences, grade: 1.00, University of Vienna (BWZ), course: Public Utility Management, language: English, abstract: The objective of this master thesis is to depict the energy environment regarding the various sources of energy, the correlation of energy mixes, various trends of transition and mainly corruption of these preceding aspects. An insight of successful and failing counter-measures is also provided.Along the analysis of numerous case studies a focus on "Extracted Key Factors" of the explored and evaluated characteristics of corruption and the energy sector is placed upon. The term corruption in an economic environment is defined as fraud, bribery, immorality and misuse of power, however the actual scope is greater, as the interdependencies of nations, economies and their corresponding interactions create disruptions and discrepancies - especially when lobbying is exploited. Misinformation and the corruption of data are the most difficult research topics, as science should not be misused in forcing an opinion with falsifying facts for instance and must not lead to technical provable contradictions. The approach to fight corruption is most likely to be efficient and successful if performed supranational on all public sectors - with adaptations to the energy sector - by all means with high collaborative efforts.

The study is an attempt to study the opinions of teachers of special schools, integrated schools and regular schools respectively towards inclusive education. The field of special education has grown tremendously in the past few years, demanding frequent updates for the professionals. Periodic in-service training programmes for teaching professionals to keep them abreast of the developments worldwide and to equip them to face the challenges of changing trends is of paramount importance. Such programmes are needed for all levels of staff from classroom teachers to master trainers. Periodic short-term programmes varying from 2 weeks to 3 months, based on the need, should be made mandatory for all trained professionals. Awareness programmes on each disability be initiated at school level. Mass media can be used for enhancing awareness and influencing attitude of masses towards inclusive education. Though factors behind positive and negative attitudes were not able to be determined, the results indicate that the majority of participants agree that special education and general education teachers need to collaborate in order for inclusive education to be successful.

With reportedly over USD100 billion lost annually through graft and illicit practices, combatting corruption in Africa has been challenging. However, laws and policies at the continental, regional and national levels have been promulgated and enacted by African leaders. These initiatives have included the establishment of anti-corruption agencies mandated to tackle graft at national level, as well as coordinate bodies at regional and continental levels to ensure the harmonisation of normative standards and the adoption of best practices in the fight against corruption. Yet, given the disparity between the apparent impunity enjoyed by public servants and the anti-corruption rhetoric of governments in the region, the effectiveness of these agencies is viewed with scepticism. This continent-wide study of anti-corruption agencies aims to gauge their relevance and effectiveness by assessing their independence, mandate, available resources, national ownership, capacities and strategic positioning. These surveys include evidence-based recommendations calling for stronger, more relevant and effective institutions that are directly aligned to regional and continental anti-corruption frameworks, such as the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combatting Corruption (AUCPCC), which the ten countries in this current report – Angola, Botswana, DRC, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe – have all ratified.

The increased awareness globally of corruption and the threat it poses to humanity has led many in the secular and Christian world to seek solutions to stamp out this scourge. Recognizing the crisis caused by corruption in Tanzania, his own country, Dr Alfred Sebahene seeks to understand this social epidemic through the application of theological ethics. As a result of the study the author identifies theological-ethical guidelines that inform and add substance to the church’s duty in the public sphere, particularly in the fight against corruption and injustice.

Computer Aided Learning has emerged as a significant component under SSA. The state of Tamilnadu has been proactive in providing computer facilities to schools. Most of the government schools have been provided with CAL facilities under SSA. The mission is very effective with public-private partnership in this area, both in terms of provision of software as well as teacher training. The mission, however, has concerns with the content being delivered under CAL and its impact on the teaching -learning process. Hence, the present study attempted to assess the impact of the CAL centres in terms of the students' CAL knowledge, Skills and Attitude and the secondary level teachers' attitude towards CAL. The findings present a picture that needs a multidimensional analysis. The recommendations, if implemented shall lead to effective utilization of the CAL centres both by the teachers and students, thus leading to the realization of the objectives of CAL centres under SSA.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich BWL - Unternehmensethik, Wirtschaftsethik, Note: 87 %, University of Pretoria (Faculty of Economics), Veranstaltung: BUSINESS ETHICS, 17 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Corruption has become a serious issue in today's corporate and political environment. More and more countries tend to condone, yet appreciate the giving of gifts in order to accelerate the materialising of larger contracts. In many cases this is done without taking the public's point of view into account. This essay will investigate the question, if the ratification of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, which has been recently signed by South Africa as the 37th member, has had any major impacts on corruption in other member countries. Moreover, it will give an estimate about the development of South African corruption statistics in the near future. In order to answer this question, chapter 2 will give a clear definition of the term corruption, as well as an explanation about why corruption happens worldwide and how it affects economic growth. Adjacently, a brief introduction of the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention will be stated, which will be followed by an elaboration on the effects of the ratification of the Act on a number of member countries. According to the underlying data, a forecast of future development on South Africa's corruption statistics will be given.

Diploma Thesis from the year 2010 in the subject Business economics - Business Ethics, Corporate Ethics, grade: 1,3, Martin Luther University, language: English, abstract: Corruption, defined as the "abuse of entrusted power for private gain," has been a recurrent theme throughout South Korean (hereinafter referred to as Korean) history. Since Korea joined the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in 1996, it has continuously been ranked among the lowest 20th percentile in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) barometer. The term of corruption primarily refers to the public sector. Therefore, Shleifer and Vishny offer a more narrow definition of corruption as being "the sale by government officials of government property for personal gain." Corruption occurs at the interface between the public sector and the private one, whenever a public official is endowed with the discretionary power over the distribution of goods and services. The consequences of corruption are multifarious, including the lowering of investment and economic growth, a loss of tax revenue, adverse budgetary consequences, for instance by reducing the level of tax collection, and a reduction of the effectiveness of aid flows in developing countries and distortion of the composition of government expenditures. One sector that is known to be very susceptible to corruption is the construction sector, covering major public investment projects. T...
