In this book is analyzed public administration efficiency in resource economies and also a comparative analysis with the OECD countries is done. Wide scope of public administration is included and measured by new measurement of public administration efficiency called Index of Public Administration Efficiency (IPAE), arose from this work. Efficiency scores calculations and rankings are made for resource economies, and OECD countries, based on this index. Research finds and analyzes the outcomes of these scores. Importance of public administration for the modern state is analyzed. Regression analysis shows that economic freedom significantly influences efficiency, and efficiency influences real GDP per capita (PPP) and human development, but more government spending does not increase public administration efficiency. Also explained what is sovereign wealth funds, and the role of public administration in it.

Bangladesh has one of the highest densities of livestock in the world with 145 large ruminants per square kilometer. Dairy is the most important sector of livestock industry in Bangladesh that provides greater part of animal source protein for human consumption. Lifetime productivity of cows largely depends on their individual reproductive performance. In most countries, the primary objective of a reproductive control program in a dairy herd is to have each cow calve and produce a live calf in every 12 months. Like in many other countries, poor reproductive efficiency has been considered to be the major limiting factors in medium and large scale market oriented dairying in Bangladesh for achieving this goal. This book highlighted the overall reproductive efficiency in main milk pocket area of Bangladesh combining both traditional and recent measures of reproductive indexes.

Buffalo plays an important role in livestock economy over Asia. Among other livestock species the Buffalo is the second most versatile component in relation to existing integrated agricultural farming system in Bangladesh. Reproductive management of buffalo is a foremost concern because of inaccuracy to detect oestrus and pregnancy and all are associated with significant economic losses. Nowadays application of assisted reproductive technologies resembling milk progesterone ELISA, Ultrasonography is successfully improves our understanding on Buffalo Reproduction of Bangladesh. Milk progesterone ELISA was first introduced by Khan et al, (2008) in Bangladesh through Field Fertility Clinic Laboratory (FFC), Bangladesh Agricultural University. Recently milk progesterone ELISA is one of the regularly practiced techniques in Bangladesh to evaluate ovarian cyclicity, oestrus, pregnancy and non-pregnancy status of buffalo, which helps the farmers to maintain the profitable dairy farming.

Thesis (M.A.) from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Investment and Finance, grade: MSc in Finance and Investment, Mekelle University (Business and economic college), language: English, abstract: This study was conducted in Ethiopian insurance companies in order to measure the technical efficiency using DEA input oriented approach under both constant and variable return versions and Malmquist index output oriented approach in the period 2006-2010. In the first stage, the relative technical efficiency is estimated with data envelopment analysis (DEA) to establish benchmarking company, then, they are ranked according to their technical efficiency. Mann whiney- U test in the second stage was used to determine the factors affecting efficiency. The concept of efficiency concerns is an insurer's ability to produce a given set of outputs (such as premiums and investment income) via the use of inputs such as administrative and general expenses and financial capital. The insurance company is said to be technically efficient if it cannot reduce its input usage without some corresponding reduction in outputs, given the current state of production technology in the industry. The technical efficiency of Ethiopian insurance companies during the study period was 86.7%, 97.1% and 84.9% in technical efficiency, pure technical efficiency and scale efficiency, respectively. The productivity change shows Ethiopian insurance companies were quite well in efficiency change rathe...

Input-output analysis is probably the most practical tool of economic analysis. It is the main tool to help us answer three key questions that pertain to the whole economic system. In terms of efficiency and productivity growth, what's the performance of an economy? What is the comparative advantage of an economy compared with the rest of the world? How do policies and measures affect the whole economic system when environmental constrains are taken into account? Of course, many other interesting questions can be posed. The first three chapters in this book introduce three important practices of input-output analysis in China in the fields of water shadow price evaluating and predicting, building energy efficiency impacts evaluating, unfair importation impacts calculating. The last chapter is the advanced research in nonlinear input-output model. The methods and results are quite general, and this feature facilitates the use of the book as a reference source, particularly by applied economists and macro economic managers.

The approaches used are the data envelopment analysis (DEA) and DEA-based Malmquist productivity index. In addition, a second-stage tobit regression is estimated to determine the possible causes of inefficiency. Mean scores in the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination are used as output while gross enrolments, pupil-classes ratio and pupil-teacher ratio are used as inputs. In the second stage, a dummy variable to capture the location of the district is included in the model. The analysis of Tobit regression shows a negative significant relationship between Pupil Teacher Ratio is and efficiency thus high pupil teacher ratio is associated with inefficiency. Districts located in urban areas are found to perform better than their rural counterparts.

Master's Thesis from the year 2015 in the subject Medicine - Hospital Environment, Clinical Medicine, grade: 80, University of Hertfordshire, language: English, abstract: This report analyses the efficiency of hospitals in England and Germany. Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) is utilised to estimate a best practice frontier and to evaluate the performance characteristics of different hospitals in the two countries. The measurement categories of input factors are represented by the hospital size (amount of beds), number of wards, number of employed medical specialists, sum of total inpatient admissions, demographic environment (population density in population/km²), and one output factor (mortality rates).Regarding these factors, the main findings reveal that the allocation of inefficient hospitals in England is broadly spread and, therefore, the mean efficiency value of hospitals in England is ≈44% (whereas 100% describes efficient units). In contrast, the mean efficiency value of German hospitals equates to ≈91%. Consequently, the allocation of inefficient German hospitals is less spread and the overall performance of hospital health supply is more efficient in Germany compared to England. Most remarkably, the amount of inpatient admissions is one of the main drivers for efficiency and especially the English hospitals suffer from high numbers of inpatient admissions, which may be reduced due to improvements in the primary healthcare supply provided by general practitioners...

A comparative analysis of commercial and formulated feed on Amo breed of broiler was carried out.The term "poultry" used in agriculture generally refers to all domesticated birds kept for eggs or meat production. These include chickens, (domesticated fowl) turkey, ducks, geese, pigeons, guinea fowl and other birds. The most common of all these in Nigeria is the domestic fowl. Sometime the term "poultry" is considered synonymous with chickens (Igbokwe 2010).The term poultry is a broad classification covering the species of all domesticated birds that are raised primarily for the production of meat and eggs for human consumption. The term applies to chickens, turkeys, ducks, swans, geese, guinea fowl and other birds. However, among all these food producing birds, chickens are probably more than all the other birds and found throughout the world, (Feetham 1990).Poultry production is one of the most important agricultural business practiced in Nigeria. But one of the challenges posed on the production of poultry is that the feed are mostly derived from crops such as maize, sorghum, and other grain crops. As a consequence, feed ingredients need to be acquired from distant supply area and may not be hundred percent (100%) sufficient in nutrients content and also very ...

Recent attention on the role of men in reproductive health warranted the need for becoming of responsible partners in relation to male-involvement initiatives. This study examined the role of men on some selected reproductive health issues. Logistic regression analysis suggests that approval of husband could be an important determinant whether or not a couple would use contraception. Qualitative analysis revealed that a complex web of socio-cultural factors impeded spousal communication regarding the reproductive health issues and discouraged them to take their wives to health facilities. The analysis demonstrates that male involvement in reproductive health is an important strategy to the reach demographic goals in Bangladesh. Men in Bangladesh suffer from misinformation and require factual information from relevant sources to promote and ensure men's participation in reproductive health services. The findings suggest that more pragmatic and target-oriented programmes are required to increase male involvement in reproductive health matters; this will hasten to achieve the demographic objectives of the country.

As opposed to the transitology studies that were prevalent in the 1990s, and that treated the neoliberal context in these two regions separately, the articles in this book instead offer a new comparative analysis focusing on the consequences of neoliberal reforms and the new actors that deal with their results. The essays discuss the various forms of state that have unfolded in different peripheral countries, their role in the social engineering of economic models and social policies, and the impact of state capacities and ideas on institutional innovation. The volume also compares transformations in political culture, collective identities and contentious politics in both areas.

In comparative characterization, another character is used as a foil to bring out a characteristic trait of a concerned character. Jesus characterized the ideal disciple in the Sermon on the Mount with many descriptions and imperatives. To characterize the ideal disciple Jesus used many comparisons and highlighted the characteristic features that embody the ideal disciple. The many comparisons used in the Sermon on the Mount are identified in this study through comparative characterization. In addition, the teleological purpose of the comparisons, which is to play as foil to the characterization of the ideal disciple, is identified and highlighted. Thus, this study identifies Jesus' characterization of the ideal disciple and his complex portrayal of the ideal disciple with the many uses of comparisons in the descriptions and imperatives of Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount.""Bennet Arren Lawrence uses literary, narrative, and comparative characterization methods at their best in his analysis of the Sermon on the Mount. After establishing a deeper knowledge about the teaching of Jesus, he endeavors to foreground the ideal disciple embedded withi...

Master's Thesis from the year 2016 in the subject Economics - Job market economics, grade: 1.0, , course: Development Economics, language: English, abstract: The study measures the level of technical efficiency and its determinants in Ethiopian garment factories. The study employs both Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Stochastic Frontier Analysis (SFA) to compute the technical efficiency of Ethiopian garment factories and Tobit model to examine the determinant of technical inefficiency of the garment factories based on a data set of ninety four garment factories over the period of 2014-2015. The study used Akaike Information Criteria (AIC) to opt for the best function between Cobb-Douglas and Translog functions. The result reveals that Cobb-Douglas production functions better explains the production behavior of garment factories. The DEA estimation shows that the mean technical efficiency of garment factories was around to be 0.43 while such figure in SFA goes as high as 0.89 and the research indicated that export do not promote technical efficiency Ethiopian garment factories. The research indicated that DEA is more appropriate for small garment factors while SFA is more suitable to large and medium garment factories. The result from DEA model indicates that educational level of production manager, local fabric sourcing, collaboration with similar factories and membership status with Ethiopian textile and garment institute have positive contribution to efficiency. White leg shrimp was first cultured in South America. Due to uncontrolled farming activities in those countries the entire industry was devastated. The industry has not recovered fully from the earlier onslaught in most South American countries, such as Ecuador. This book , therefore provides an important rationale for cooperation between several interested parties in utilizing the high production capacities of white leg shrimp. The rationale is that an increase in the cooperation level leads to an increase, not only in the stocking densities, but also in several other related factors of white leg shrimp production. Some measures are also proposed to improve the aquaculture area. An empirical investigation of the efficiency of a white leg shrimp farmer was demonstrated. It is based on a research study conducted in Vietnam ,convinced that cost and production studies and proposed some aquaculture strategies for Vietnam. This book will be especially useful for good farming policy development in Vietnam and other farming interested countries.

The Bihari community in Bangladesh is deprived of all rights. They are subject to deprivation. They could hardly manage jobs for themselves, which reflected their economic insecurity and food insecurity as well. Inadequate medical facilities in the camps indicated their insecurity of health, thereby becoming vulnerable to various diseases and poor health with debilitating illness. Absence of ownership of land is a violation of human rights. Personal security gets hampered due to identity crisis of the Bihari people because they are not considered citizens of Bangladesh .as well as they do not have any political rights (though court declared their voting right in 2008) to participate in party politics by which they could protect themselves from violation of human rights and other forms of criminal activities. They were excluded from mainstream society.

Feed Efficiency in the Beef Industry provides a thorough and concise overview of feed efficiency in beef cattle. It frames the great importance of feed efficiency to the industry and details the latest findings of the many scientific disciplines that intersect and aim to improve efficient and sustainable production of nutritious beef. The vast majority of production costs are directly tied to feed. With increased demand for grains to feed a rapidly increasing world population and to supply a new demand for alternative fuels, feed costs continue to increase. In recent years, the negative environmental impacts of inefficient feeding have also been realized; as such feed efficiency is an important factor in both economic viability and environmental sustainability of cattle production. Feed Efficiency in the Beef Industry covers a broad range of topics ranging from economic evaluation of feed efficiency to the physiological and genetic bases of efficient conversion of feed to high quality beef. Chapters also look at how a fuller understanding of feed efficiency is leading to new selective breeding efforts to develop more efficient cattle. With wide-ranging coverage from leading international researchers, Feed Efficiency will be a valuable resource for producers who wish to understand the complexities, challenges, and opportunities to reduce their cost of production, for students studying the topic and for researchers and professionals working in the beef industry.

The objective of the study is to measure the technical efficiency of small holder farmers in sesame production. The study was conducted using a cross sectional data collected in 2015/2016-production year from a total sample of 110 households. Cobb-Douglas function was employed to estimate technical efficiency of smallholder farmers in sesame production. The finding of the study indicated that there is inefficiency in the production of sesame in the study area. The estimation of the frontier model with inefficiency variables shows that the mean technical efficiency of farmers is 0.69 (69%). This implies that production of sesame can be increased by 31 percent given the existing technological level. This indicates that the farmers did not using production inputs efficiently in such a way that they give their maximum potential. The estimated stochastic production frontier model together with the inefficiency parameters suggests that any attempt to strengthen technical efficiency of smallholder farmers in the study area must give due attention to the improvement of the principal causes for efficiency differentials such as education, age, ...

Migration and development has achieved high standing in international agenda in recent years. There are numerous examples that migration and remittance contribute to poverty reduction and promote economic growth. In Bangladesh remittance is a major source of external finance that contributes significantly in boosting forex and managing BOP. In addition remittance allows rural poor to meet basic needs, open up opportunities investing in health care, education, social security for the elderly and help to boost local economy. But there remains a number of problems in different stages like, cost of migration, exploitations, hazards to sending money and limited attention by civil society and government. To address these issues, Bangladesh has initiated various reforms but still some measures need to be upgraded and redesigned. If these things can be done, Bangladesh will have the potentiality to emerge as a leading remittance earning country in the world and will be able to achieve sustainable growth and development. This analysis may be useful to the researchers, students and managers working in financial and commercial sector.

In this book Oddrun M. H. Bråten set out to utilise and test her methodology for comparative religious education. This synthesises two sets of ideas. The first includes supranational, national and subnational processes. Formal supranational processes refer to international (educational) policymaking in international organisations. Informal supranational processes include secularisation, pluralisation and globalisation. Subnational processes refer to variations between regions within a country. The second set of ideas concerns the societal, institutional, instructional and experiential levels of curriculum. They are affected by supranational, national and subnational processes. In discussing the societal level, attention needs to be given to the histories of religion, state and school in each country. Research at the institutional level involves analysis of relevant policy documents and legislation in each country, while research at the instructional level involves analysis of how teachers interpret, plan and teach the curriculum, while the experiential level researches how students interact with one-another and with teachers to develop their understanding. A third set of ideas includes Bråten's use of Schiffauer and collaborators' concepts of social/national imaginary and civil enculturation. These concepts help in grasping the historical and sociological depth of national traditions. This publication is a groundbreaking study in the methodology of comparative religious...
