This work presents new approaches for motion design and analysis suitable for the integration of Computer Aided Design (CAD), Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) and Computerized Numerical Control (CNC). Therefore, not only shape but also kinematic information is conveyed in an efficient manner that can be easily implemented in CAD/CAM systems and eventually interpreted by CNC manufacturing equipment. By using dual quaternions, quaternions and planar quaternions, the displacements of a rigid body in Cartesian space are mapped into points in the image space of displacements, transforming the kinematic problem of motion interpolation into a geometric problem where the powerful techniques for curve and surface interpolation from Computer Aided Geometric Design (CAGD) can be readily applied. Three techniques are developed using quaternion biarcs, a four point interpolatory subdivision scheme and its tensor product version. A preliminary approach for mechanism simulation using subdivision schemes is also attempted. The results obtained have applications in CNC tool path generation, robot path planning, and computer animation.

Inhaltsangabe:Introduction: Reconstruction of real-world scenes from a set of multiple images is a topic in Computer Vision and 3D Computer Graphics with many interesting applications. There is a relation to Augmented and Mixed Reality (AR/MR), Computer-Supported Collaborative Work (CSCW), Computer-Aided industrial/architectural Design (CAD), modeling of the real-world (e.g. computer games, scenes/effects in movies), entertainment (e.g. 3D TV/Video) and recognition/analyzing of real-world characteristics by computer systems and robots. There exists a powerful algorithm theory for shape reconstruction from arbitrary viewpoints, called shape from photo-consistency. However, it is computationally expensive and hence can not be used with applications in the field of 3D video or CSCW as well as interactive 3D model creation. Attempts have been made to achieve real-time framerates using PC cluster systems. While these provide enough performance they are also expensive and less flexible. Approaches that use GPU hardware-acceleration on single workstations achieve interactive framerates for novel-view synthesis, but do not provide an explicit volumetric representation of the whole scene. The proposed approach shows the efforts in developing a GPU hardware-accelerated framework for obtaining the volumetric photo hull of a dynamic 3D scene as seen from multiple calibrated cameras. In this thesis work we design and optimize a 8-bit pipelined ADC for low-power. The ADC has stage resolution of 1.5-bit and employ current mode multiplying digital-to-analog converter (MDAC). The main focus is to design and optimize the MDAC. We design and optimize the MDAC circuit for the best possible effective number of bits (ENOB), speed and power consumption. Each of the first six stages consisting of Sample-and-Hold, 1.5-bit flash ADC and MDAC is realized at the circuit level. The last stage consisting of 2-bit flash ADC is also realized at circuit level. The delay logic for synchronization is implemented in Verilog-A and MATLAB. A first order digital error-correction algorithm is implemented in MATLAB. The design is simulated in UMC 0.18μm technology in Cadence environment.

We hence propose a knowledge-based formal representation of design patterns, a representation that is accessible by tools. Existing approaches to formalizing design patterns generally cover solely the formal description of the structure of design patterns. However, an important part of a design pattern description is the intent section, because the intent describes what the design pattern does and which design problems a pattern addresses. In this work, we develop a novel approach of formalizing design patterns by their intent. The formal representation is based on OWL, the web ontology language. The developed ontology can serve as support for the decision-making of choosing the right design pattern. We furthermore develop a tool that uses the ontology as a knowledge-base. The tool allows the user to visually describe design problems and gives suggestions of design patterns that solve a given design problem.

With the help of complete design procedures and tabulated design parameters, even those with little filter design experience, will find this book to be a useful design guideline and reference, which can free them from tedious computer-aided full-wave electromagnetic simulations. Among different design proposals, wideband bandpass filters based on the multi-mode resonator have demonstrated many unparalleled attractive features, including a simple design methodology, compact size, low loss and good linearity in the wide passband, enhanced out-of-band rejection, and easy integration with other circuits/antennas. A conventional bandpass filter works under single dominant resonant modes of a few cascaded transmission line resonators and its operating bandwidth is widened via enhanced coupling between the adjacent resonators. However, this traditional approach needs an extremely high coupling degree of coupled-lines while producing a narrow upper stopband between the dominant and harmonic bands. As a sequence, the desired dominant passband is restricted to an extent less than 60% in fractional bandwidth. To circumvent these issues and break with the tradition, a filter based on the multiple resonant modes was initially introduced in 2000 by the first author of this book. Based on this novel concept, a new class of wideband filters with fractional bandwidths larger than 60% has been successfully developed so far. This book, presents and characterizes a variety of multi-mode resonators with stepped-impedance or loaded-stub configurations using the matured transmission line theory for development of advanced microwave wideband filters.

The accelerometer is used for the measurements of head acceleration when an injurious event occurs. Main requirements for such sensor are miniaturization (2×2 mm), because the device must be placed into the driver earpiece, and its measurement accuracy (i.e. high sensitivity, low crosstalk and low nonlinearity) since the device is used for safety monitoring purpose. A micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS)-based (bulk micromachined) piezoresistive accelerometer was selected as enabling technology for the development of the sensor. The primary accelerometer elements that can be manipulated during the design stage are: the sensing element (piezoresistors), the micromechanical structure and the measurements circuit. Each of these elements has been specifically designed in order to maximize the sensor performance and to achieve the miniaturization required for the studied application.
