6714 руб.
Dental anomalies of number, shape, and position are frequently analysed in the orthodontic and clinical literature but are rarely discussed in an anthropological or archaeological context. Dental anomalies and occlusal disorders are often hypothesised to be the result of a modern, urbanised lifestyle as a response to reduced masticatory stress and subsequent crowding of the dentition. This study of skulls from Classical to medieaval Macedonia and England examines the relationship between craniofacial variation and the expression of dental anomalies. Standard craniometric measurements were taken to estimate relative sizes of cranial functional complexes and determine whether or not, or to what extent, changes in the shape or size of these variables were associated with the expression of dental anomalies.Statistical analyses determined that the null hypothesis, that there is no relationship between craniometrics and dental anomalies, can be rejected. A number of dental anomalies were found to have a relationship with reduced sizes in cranial and masticatory elements, although dental crowding was not as significant a factor in masticatory complex reduction. A cause and effect relationship cannot be determined but the data presented here suggests that both heredity and environmental causes may be influential in the expression of dental anomalies.

The type of cadastral survey technique to be used requires technical knowledge and capacity, which should strike a balance between accuracy, cost, value of the property and resources available. Most disputes among holders of land are more related to the accuracy of cadastral surveying techniques. In contrast, the cost of surveying techniques is the major factor for a country with poor economy. Balancing these issues will be difficult for a country which has not yet implemented a modern cadastral system and has no standard surveying techniques. This book, therefore, provides a systematic accuracy test for two surveying techniques used for land registration. Handheld GPS receiver and high resolution satellite image are compared with real time kinematic (RTK) GPS. The comparisons are made for the area and coordinate of the parcel by calculating its relative percentage error and root mean square error respectively. This analysis should support any decision to choose a standard cadastral surveying technique for a country, and should be especially useful to professionals in Cadastral Surveying and Mapping fields.

Sedation is a procedure that makes use of sedative medications to produce a relaxed experience for the patient. The central nervous system (CNS) is affected through the use of drugs, including tranquilizers and anxiolytics, that can be administered to the patient in several ways. Sedation dentistry has several benefits, both for dentists and patients. For patients, it can mean freedom from anxiety or fear during dental procedures. In cases where a patient has not been able to undergo dental treatment for many years because of this fear, sedation dentistry allows him to have several years' worth of dental treatment in just a few sessions. For dentists, sedation dentistry facilitates the easy performance of dental procedures. Patients are likely to be more cooperative under the relaxing effects of sedation. Treatments can also be quicker, because a number of procedures can be performed in a single session. Dental nurses play a vital role in assisting the dentist in the routine sedation of patients. In acknowledgement of this, the NEBDN run a post-qualification certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing that provides the dental nurse with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills required to carry out their role safely and competently. The ‘Basic Guide to Dental Sedation Nursing' is a must have book for all dental nurses seeking to develop their knowledge and understanding of this core area of clinical practice. Written in a clear and accessible style, chapters reflect the Certificate in Dental Sedation Nursing syllabus with chapters on such key topics as legal aspects, anatomy, equipment, patient assessment, types of sedation, medical emergencies and resuscitation. The phenomenon of adhesion is of cardinal importance in the pharmaceutical, biomedical and dental fields. A few eclectic examples will suffice to underscore the importance/relevance of adhesion in these three areas. For example, the adhesion between powdered solids is of crucial importance in tablet manufacture. The interaction between biodevices (e.g., stents, bio-implants) and body environment dictates the performance of such devices, and there is burgeoning research activity in modifying the surfaces of such implements to render them compatible with bodily components. In the field of dentistry, the modern trend is to shift from retaining of restorative materials by mechanical interlocking to adhesive bonding. This unique book addresses all these three areas in an easily accessible single source. The book contains 15 chapters written by leading experts and is divided into four parts: General Topics; Adhesion in Pharmaceutical Field; Adhesion in Biomedical Field; and Adhesion in Dental Field. The topics covered include: – Theories or mechanisms of adhesion. – Wettability of powders. – Role of surface free energy in tablet strength and powder flow behavior. – Mucoadhesive polymers for drug delivery systems. – Transdermal patches. – Skin adhesion in long-wear cosmetics. – Factors affecting microbial adhesion. – Biofouling and ways to mitigate it. – Adhesion of coatings on surgical tools and bio-implants. – Adhesion in fabrication of microarrays in clinical diagnostics. – Antibacterial polymers for dental adhesives and composites. – Evolution of dental adhesives. – Testing of dental adhesives joints.
