Most developing countries often implement policies that have aggravated rather than corrected the free market failures. So, it is argued that market failures ought to be corrected by the government by implementing policies that can be proved to be more successful and realistic on long term economic sustainability. Experience has shown that public finance policy reforms in most developing economies have not the corrected the free market failures. In real terms, public finance policies should be designed on the basis of promoting a stable economic growth and development. It can be argued that there is a greater desire among the developing countries to increase their productivity so that the people can attain substantially a better quality of life. Public finance affects developing economies in many different ways. However, also public finance policies do affect key sectors of the economy in many different ways. This is true especially that the economic problems facing the developing countries are extremely difficult to address due to the declining fiscal capacity. It can be highlighted that the developing economies should shape their development within overall macroeconomic balance.

In developing economies and particularly in rural areas, many activities that would be classified in the developed world as financial are not monetized: That is, there is no money used to carry them out. This is often the case when people need the services money can provide but do not have dispensable funds required for those services, forcing them to revert to other means of acquiring them. People find creative and often collaborative ways to meet the needs, primarily through creating and exchanging different forms of non-cash value. Common substitutes for cash vary from country to country but typically include livestock, grains, jewelry and precious metals. In the 2000s, the micro finance industry's objective is to satisfy the unmet demand on a much larger scale, and to play a role in reducing poverty. While much progress has been made in developing a viable commercial micro finance sector in the last few decades, several issues remain that need to be addressed before the industry will be able to satisfy massive worldwide demand.

Micro-finance is a set of financial practices designed to serve the unbanked poor and it is a potent weapon against poverty that is supposed to solve it all. Micro-finance is a term of comparatively recent origin. It is reflective of at least two elements which were not captured by earlier debates and concerns on the subject of rural credit. The term ‘micro-finance‘ itself is considered inappropriate by some NGOs which prefer the term of ‘development finance’ or ‘alternative finance’ which can be said to “aim at assessing communities of the economically excluded to achieve greater levels of asset creation and income security at the household and community level”. It can include enterprise development and marketing strategies, community-based investments and financial management schemes. In view of the importance the present study is a useful exercise in this direction to assess the scope and growth of micro-finance and rural area women empowerment. Finally, this work has immense value of growth of Micro-finance and Women empowerment in India and Andhra Pradesh.

Process-related considerations in strategy research and approaches to managerial cognition constitute two highly valuable, yet still only limitedly integrated, fields of interest in strategic management. To fill this void, the work starts from a cognitive perspective with the overall aim of examining the emergence of organisational strategies in strategic processes. The central research object 'strategy' is thereby conceptualized as shared strategic orientations among an organisation's key actors. The existing gap between strategy process research and cognitive strategy research is closed on a conceptual level first by developing and specifying a socio-cognitive perspective on strategic processes. In recognition of the central importance of social interactions in this context, the focus is then set on a specific core forum for strategic activities, i. e. strategic decision making groups. In this, the nature and the role of social interactions for the developing strategy-related knowledge structures is examined first conceptually, leading to the development of a socio-cognitive model on strategic decision making in groups, followed by a qualitative empirical study in this kind of activity forum. With its truly interdisciplinary nature, the dissertation is of interest for strategy scholars as it enlarges the pool of knowledge in strategic management both content-wise and also method(olog)ically with the innovative empirical research approach adopted. The book also highlights the participation of the rural poor in the development of these practices. The book is based on information from interaction with a broad range of stakeholders including research from experimentation on-station and on-farm with 200 farmers in 20 villages in three counties, as well as extensive surveys across different regions in Kenya. This provides strong evidence that the prudent utilisation of rural people's local resources and their active involvement in research and development activities is an effective strategy for poverty reduction, improved livelihoods and women's empowerment in rural Africa.

Corporate-level strategy addresses four types of decisions that only corporate-level managers can make: which businesses or markets to enter, how much to invest in each business, how to select and guide the managers of these businesses, and which activities to centralise at the corporate level. This book gives managers and executive students all the tools they need to make and review effective corporate strategy across a range of organisations.

Two timeframes of shocks on the commodities copper, aluminium as well as two rare earth elements, neodymium and lanthanum, were studied on their effects on stock prices.Companies have been selected according to their industry, their size, country of origin and commodity exposure. Unique issues in this work are the focus on commodity price shocks and the pre- selection of companies, where the chosen commodities are assumingly key input factors. Therefore this paper attempts to shed new light on the importance of commodity price exposure for the firm value of companies.

Companies can no longer afford to be 'un'sustainable. While this observation has been widely accepted in the United States and Europe, only recently have Latin American companies and businesses across the developing world started to integrate sustainability principles into their corporate cultures. Recognizing and responding to this emerging trend, 'The Labyrinth of Sustainability' offers a collection of carefully developed and tightly framed case studies generated through the Latin American Corporate Sustainability Analysis project, an initiative convened by the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy in conjunction with the EGADE Business School in Mexico and INCAE Business school in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. The introduction by Daniel Esty, the Hillhouse Professor of Environmental Law and Policy at Yale University and one of the world's leading corporate sustainability experts, makes a compelling argument for what he calls the "sustainability imperative"--the notion that businesses must work toward sustainability to be successful in today's marketplace. It distills from the 12 case studies that follow five important sustainability strategy lessons for executives and managers on leadership, vision and execution, partnerships, communications and inspiration. The 12 case studies focus on the sustainability strategy and initiatives of a company with business operations in Latin America, drawing out key themes and highlighting both successes a...

In the early 1990’s, most developing countries implemented reforms in the agricultural sector that affected the volatility of product prices. However, there is limited empirical evidence on the effects of these reforms on the level and volatility of Irish potato prices. This book evaluates the effects of market reform policies on the evolution and volatility of Irish potato prices in Kenya. By using an autoregressive conditional heteroscedasticity in mean model, a monthly time series data set was utilized to identify the effects of the market reforms on the volatility of Irish potato prices. The results of the analysis indicate that the implementation of market reform policies led to higher prices and reduction of price volatility. The book recommends the requisite measures to enable the farmers to realize maximum benefits from the effects of the implementation of market reform policies. Overall, this book sheds more light on the existing body of knowledge on the effects of market reforms and Irish potato marketing and is especially useful to researchers, farmers and policy makers.

Organizations cannot avoid service failure.Service failure is inevitable due to the unique characteristics of the service itself. Therefore, they should develop effective recovery strategy to handle service failures properly. However, developing effective recovery strategy is not an easy task especially in the banking industry. Most customers who complained were not pleased with the banks' recovery efforts because they were not treated fairly and the service recovery efforts were far away from adequate justice. Consequently, failed service recovery following the initial service failure is leading the banks' customers to dissatisfaction and to switch their patronage to competitors. This study provides brief explanations on how justice oriented recovery affects customer satisfaction and how recovery satisfaction in turn affects customer loyalty.

For the developing world, the impacts of climate change - from sea level rise and more potent and erratic precipitation patterns to rapid deglaciation - are becoming an increasingly frightening reality. Adaptation planning has thus become critical for policymakers in developing countries as these impacts begin to have serious detrimental economic and social implications. Due to a lack of data in many regions, the difficulty of scaling down global circulation models to the country level, and the relative nascence of adaptation theory and policy, however, there is little guidance as to what interventions are likely to be most effective, especially in post-conflict developing countries that face a number of institutional capacity constraints due to years of instability. Focusing on one such highly vulnerable country, this analysis assesses the challenges facing effective adaptation in Nepal and offers recommendations for policy makers moving forward.

Master's Thesis from the year 2011 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: Sehr gut, The University of Surrey (School of Management), course: Business Administration, language: English, abstract: Today, the service sector contributes to a major part of the GDP of the most developed countries, while the share of services of the total export of these countries is comparable low. This constitutes certain challenges for the internationalisation of services. With regard to the use of "country-of-origin effects" (COO), the special service characteristics create challenges for service companies, e.g. by the inseparability of service provision and consumption. When decisions on the market entry options are made and local staff is favoured to expatriate staff, incongruence in the COO facets occurs which is difficult to hide. Based on the research on products, this might reduce COO's positive effects on service consumers' quality expectations (ESQ). In this context, the question arises whether information on training in the company's home country (CTI) can reduce the aforementioned negative effect. In order to examine the existence of these relationships, an online provided self-administered experiment was created. Using a non-probability sample of 100 Germans, respondents were asked to rate two different service examples with regard to the ESQ. In each example, the country of the person providing the service (CPI) wa...

In this research, due to the lack of capital markets in some of the Arab countries we have been focusing on foreign direct investment as one of types of foreign investment. Foreign investment comprises foreign direct investment (FDI), which inflows have provided the strong impetus on economic development across countries. FDI serves as an important source of supply of funds for domestic investments, promoting capital formation in the host country. Nowadays, more attention is paid to the issues of foreign direct investments at both national and international levels. According to World Investments reports, many developing countries, including the Arab countries, have attracted only small amounts of FDI inflows despite their efforts towards the economic openness. It means many factors impede the flow of foreign capital to Arab countries. The attractiveness of investment is a set of features and factors that allow the investor to evaluate the potential of any country to be more attractive for investment than the other one. Many factors include economic factors, social factors and political factors, which lead to increase in foreign direct investment. The potential investor considers these factors when c...

Businesses will normally change the way they operate according to the influence these rules and regulations have on the competitiveness and profitability of businesses. Business owners must comply with the regulations established by Federal, State and Local Government. Small business is facing many challenges nowadays, none of which are more forbidding than a burden. Federal government regulations and mandates threaten investment and stifle job growths. When the government imposes regulations on small businesses that drive up the cost of doing business, it's like imposing a tax. A tax is a compulsory contribution to the state revenue which the government determines according to the workers' income and business profit and which is also added to the cost of some goods, ...

Past experience has shown that especially small and medium sized businesses had not prepared themselves well enough for the turbulent and discontinuous environmental changes. Looking at globalization and the present economical recession, the pressure on small and medium sized businesses rises continually. In the Federal Republic of Germany, the entirety of medium sized businesses play a vital role with respect to macroeconomics. The few empirical examinations on the status quo concerning the application of business-management methods, in particular application of planning systems in small and medium sized businesses make it clear that systematic planning and application of business-management methods in those enterprises is insufficient. In particular enterprises with a turnover of up to 10 m. Euro have shown considerable deficits regarding the application of business-management methods used for running an enterprise.

Strategic Marketing Management: The Framework delineates the fundamentals of marketing strategy, offers a systematic approach to marketing management, and presents a value-based framework for developing viable market offerings. The theory presented stems from the view of marketing as a value-creation process that is central to any business enterprise. In addition to theory, this book offers a set of practical tools that enable managers to apply the knowledge contained in the generalized frameworks to specific business problems and market opportunities. The information contained in this volume is organized into five major parts. The first part defines the essence of marketing as a business discipline and outlines an overarching framework for marketing management that serves as the organizing principle for the information presented in the rest of the book. We discuss the role of marketing management as a value-creation process, the essentials of marketing strategy and tactics as the key components of a company’s business model, and the process of developing an actionable marketing plan. Part Two covers issues pertaining to the development of a marketing strategy that will guide the company’s tactical activities. Here we focus on three fundamental aspects of a company’s marketing strategy: the identification of target customers, the development of a customer value proposition, and the development of a value proposition for the company and its collaborators. Part Three focuses on...

One of the most vital tools for human success is strategy. Even- though influential people for example, Barrack Obama, and Warren Buffet epitomizes luck, what really made them successful was to have a clear goal, understanding of their competitive environment and most importantly, identifying opportunity when they appeared and to have the clarity of direction and the tractability necessary to exploit these chances- effective implementation. Reason is that without a consistency of direction, based on understanding their environment and a keen awareness of how to maneuver into a position of advantage, competitors will out-compete them. Therefore, strategy refers to having a succinct and articulate goal, and plans to achieving it - put succinctly, a good strategy is about winning. In light of constant change and relentless competition ,strategy becomes less about building positions of sustained competitive advantage rather, more about developing the responsiveness and flexibility to create successive temporary advantages-the economic downturn in 2008-9, is encouraging new thinking about the purpose of b...
