Swarm intelligence is usually observed in the collective behavior of decentralized, self-organized swarm systems, especially biological swarm systems (e.g. fish school, bird flock). An ARMA model used for the nonlinearly degraded image deconvolution is identified using ANN which is fast trained by two swarm algorithms hybridization: PSO and BFO. Both estimated image and blur function are identified through this representation. Some applications on radiological images are presented in simulation results. This optimized model will be implemented on reconfigurable hardware. Computational comparison based on image quality reached is made between different approaches.

Nowadays, meta-heuristic optimization algorithms have been extensively applied to a variety of Machine Learning (ML). The majority of them imitate the behavior of natural phenomena to find the best solution. The algorithms find promising regions in an affordable time because of exploration and exploitation ability. Although the mentioned algorithms have satisfactory results in various fields, none of them is able to present a higher performance for all applications. Therefore, searching for a new meta-heuristic algorithm is an open problem. In this study, an improved particle swarm optimization (PSO) scheme combined with Newton’s laws of motion, the centripetal accelerated particle swarm optimization (CAPSO), is introduced. CAPSO accelerates the learning and convergence of ML problems. In addition, the binary mode of the proposed algorithm, binary centripetal accelerated particle swarm optimization (BCAPSO), is introduced for binary search spaces.

Autonomous robots have been a vision of robotics, artificial intelligence, and cognitive sciences. An important step towards this goal is to create robots that can learn to accomplish a multitude of different tasks triggered by environmental context and higher-level instruction. Early approaches to this goal during the heydays of artificial intelligence research in the late 1980s showed that handcrafted approaches do not suffice and that machine learning is needed. However, off the shelf learning techniques often do not scale into real-time or to the high-dimensional domains of manipulator and humanoid robotics. In this book, we investigate the foundations for a general approach to motor skill learning that employs domain-specific machine learning methods. A theoretically well-founded general approach to representing the required control structures for task representation and execution is presented along with novel learning algorithms that can be applied in this setting. The resulting framework is shown to work well both in simulation and on real robots.

Nowadays the largest E-commerce or E-service websites offer millions of products for sale. A Recommender system is defined as software used by such websites for recommending product items to users according to the users' tastes. In this project, we develop a recommender system for a private multimedia web service company. In particular, we devise three recommendation engines using different data filtering methods - named weighted-average, K-nearest neighbors, and item-based - which are based on collaborative filtering techniques, which work by recording user preferences on items and by anticipating the future likes and dislikes of users by comparing the records, for prediction of user preference. To acquire proper input data for the three engines, we retrieve data from database using three data collection techniques: active filtering, passive filtering, and item-based filtering. For experimental purpose we compare prediction accuracy of those recommendation engines with the results from each engine and additionally we evaluate the performance of weighted-average method using an empirical analysis approach - a methodology which was devised for verification of predictive accuracy.

Vocabulary learning through computer-mediated technology is an ever-growing trend in EFL context. Based on recent studies,the application of computer-mediated technologies might improve internalization and retrieval by learners. This study used a combination of strategies via PowerPoint to solve the problem of vocabulary learning and recall. Seventy five Iranian intermediate EFL learners were sampled to learn and retrieve some new words. The words were highlighted and hyperlinked to their first language translation (for experimental group1) and to their English definition (for experimental group2) in a PowerPoint program. The control group learned the same words via a handout rather than the program. Three tests were given to the groups. Based on t-tests,the program enhanced vocabulary learning of the experimental groups. According to One-way ANOVA, there was no significant difference between the experimental groups but between the experimental groups and the control group in vocabulary learning and recall.The study aimed at inviting learners, teachers, teacher educators, practitioners, and professionals to apply the strategies to improve vocabulary learning and recall of learner.
