Research Paper (undergraduate) from the year 2015 in the subject English - Pedagogy, Didactics, Literature Studies, , language: English, abstract: The aim of this evidence-based study is to investigate the use of the bilingual electronic dictionary strategy to improve EFL/ESL secondary school students` vocabulary learning. Three aspects have been studied in depth: the effect of using the electronic bilingual dictionary strategy on improving EFL students' vocabulary learning, the attitudes of the students and the teachers towards the target strategy, and the students` ability to use the bilingual electronic dictionary. The findings of this study indicate that the bilingual electronic dictionary has a positive and an effective role in the process of vocabulary learning. Moreover, the students show positive attitudes towards using the bilingual electronic dictionary. Nevertheless, instructors may show negative attitudes towards the target strategy for certain reasons . The analysis of data further revealed that the critical point that affects the evaluation of the target strategy is the ability to use the electronic dictionary. If the students and teachers are not able to use the bilingual electronic dictionary, they may show negative attitudes towards it and the strategy will then be useless. Thus, the study suggests some recommendations for using the target strategy effectively for EFL/ESL secondary students vocabulary learning and overall lexical acquisition.

Defines common ground at the interface of strategy and management science and unites the topics with an original approach vital for strategy students, researchers and managers Strategic Analytics: Integrating Management Science and Strategy combines strategy content with strategy process through the lenses of management science, masterfully defining the common ground that unites both fields. Each chapter starts with the perspective of a certain strategy problem, such as competition, but continues with an explanation of the strategy process using management science tools such as simulation. Facilitating the process of strategic decision making through the lens of management science, the author integrates topics that are usually in conflict for MBAs: strategy and quantitative methods. Strategic Analytics features multiple international real-life case studies and examples, business issues for further research and theory review questions and exercises at the end of each chapter. Strategic Analytics starts by introducing readers to strategic management. It then goes on to cover: managerial capabilities for a complex world; politics, economy, society, technology, and environment; external environments known as exogenous factors (PESTE) and endogenous factors (industry); industry dynamics; industry evolution; competitive advantage; dynamic resource management; organisational design; performance measurement system; the life cycle of organisations from start-ups; maturity for maintaining profitability and growth; and finally, regeneration. Seminar paper from the year 2012 in the subject Business economics - Business Management, Corporate Governance, grade: 2,7, Munich University of Applied Sciences, language: English, abstract: Mostly, companies are facing the question: Are we doing the right things? But rarely: Are we doing the things right? (cf. Kreikebaum et al. 2011, p. 161) So, what is the difference between these two questions? The first one is about the companies' strategy, the second about the implementation of it. As simple as it sounds - it is not! A great strategy or breakthrough technology is only then a competitive advantage, if it is implemented and executed firmly. Unfortunately, most companies fail at this attempt (cf. Neilson et al. 2008, p. 143).A variety of studies has shown that there is a great gap between strategy development and strategy implementation. A study from Corboy & O'Corrbui claim that nearly 70% (cf. Corboy & O'Corrbui 1999, p. 29) of strategic plans are not implemented successfully; different ones say the numbers of failure are even much higher and revolve around 90% (cf. DeLisi 2001, p. 2; Riekhof & Offermann 2006, p. 31).Many managerial books are focusing on the strategy development, the question how to find the right strategy, but not that many face the question how to implement the ideas into practice. As the strategy development processes work well and a vast number of well-tested tools for analysis and development of strategies as well as high-qua...

The book describes national policiesconcerning EIO, the way in which schools implement these policies and the success anddifficulties of the activities that they undertake. Inhaltsangabe:Abstract: The implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system refers to Information Systems, Business Processes, and People. Basically, it is a changing procedure in organizations that strive for company-wide high performance. Business Process Transformation is about changing a company’s focus - from products to customers. Information Systems are replaced by a homogenous system environment which integrates all information into a common system. The behaviour and skills of the company-wide personnel are adapted to perform in the new "world". The big challenge of the implementation is to have the properly-trained people for a high-performance organization. Unfortunately, most companies do not recognize that need. They underestimate the impact that the human factor has on an ERP approach; they consider the implementation as a software-installation with influence to the business. But, the implementation is much more complex. This thesis is dedicated to all those persons who intend to implement an Enterprise Resource Planning system, and who want to understand the theory of Business Process Transformation and how it is linked to Enterprise Resource Planning. To emphasize the importance of the human factors within the implementation, chapter 4 elaborates on End-User Training as a significant part of an implementation for a company dedicated to becoming a high-performance organization. This paper also includes a case study of an ERP implementation...

Although professional development resources often are allocated for integrating technology and for applying constructivist theory into the mathematics classroom, little is known about the return on these investments. The grant recipients were sorted into 3 groups, by the grant award date, and descriptive statistics was used to summarize the perceived impact of technology on constructivist statements. A 25-question mail-in survey instrument was used to gather information about teacher level of technology integration, teacher observations of students when using technology, the impact of technology on constructivist behaviors, and other demographic data related to years of teaching and courses taught. This study contributes to social change in professional development by providing a model to determine the efficacy of how funds allocated for instructional resources, instructional programming, the purchase and implementation of instructional technology and the allocation of resources to professional development programs.

A volume in Research in Behavioral StrategySeries Editor T. K. Das, City University of New YorkBehavioral strategy continues to attract increasing research interest within the broader field of strategicmanagement. Research in behavioral strategy has clear scope for development in tandem with suchtraditional streams of strategy research that involve economics, markets, resources, and technology. Thekey roles of psychology, organizational behavior, and behavioral decision making in the theory and practiceof strategy have yet to be comprehensively grasped. Given that strategic thinking and strategic decisionmaking are importantly concerned with human cognition, human decisions, and human behavior, it makeseminent sense to bring some balance in the strategy field by complementing the extant emphasis on the"objective' economics-based view with substantive attention to the "subjective" individual-orientedperspective. This calls for more focused inquiries into the role and nature of the individual strategy actors, and their cognitions and behaviors, in the strategy research enterprise. For the purposes of this book series, behavioral strategy would be broadly construed as covering all aspects of the role of the strategy maker inthe entire strategy field. The scholarship relating to behavioral strategy is widely believed to be dispersedin diverse literatures. These existing contributions that relate to behavioral strategy within the overall field of strategy has been kn...

One of the most vital tools for human success is strategy. Even- though influential people for example, Barrack Obama, and Warren Buffet epitomizes luck, what really made them successful was to have a clear goal, understanding of their competitive environment and most importantly, identifying opportunity when they appeared and to have the clarity of direction and the tractability necessary to exploit these chances- effective implementation. Reason is that without a consistency of direction, based on understanding their environment and a keen awareness of how to maneuver into a position of advantage, competitors will out-compete them. Therefore, strategy refers to having a succinct and articulate goal, and plans to achieving it - put succinctly, a good strategy is about winning. In light of constant change and relentless competition ,strategy becomes less about building positions of sustained competitive advantage rather, more about developing the responsiveness and flexibility to create successive temporary advantages-the economic downturn in 2008-9, is encouraging new thinking about the purpose of b...
