This book explores the narrative time of Konjowochu based on the theoretical approach of narrative time mainly introduced by Gerard Genette in Narrative Discourse and Shlomith Rimmon-Kenan in Narrative Fiction. Thus, the book demonstrates the three aspects of narrative time: order, duration and frequency in Konjowochu. The analysis of the time structure of this novel indicates that the time arrangement in the narrative is crucial for the understanding of the narrative.

The work proposed to the reader asserts the equality of all speeds in nature and, consequently, the existence of a multitude of time measurements in the space-time continuum. Based on this statement a method is presented for building a space-time-related inertial reference configuration. Using this method, a theoretical substantiation is given of the speed limit both for reference configurations with a relative movement and for particles (hence, for the speed limit of transfer of interaction in reference configurations of each time measurement). Also, based on the proposed statement a theoretical substantiation is given for existence in nature of a physical constant having a size of the movement quantity moment (the Planck's constant in our time measurement) and, simultaneously, de Broglie wave formation mechanism is shown.

In modern science, including theoretical physics, as in the early classical mechanics, the unnatural reversible time of Newton, based on the medieval concept of geometric time by Nicholas Oresme, is still used. This “original sin” of natural sciences has unintended consequences and creates a set of paradoxes and methodological problems for science. The book explores two new models of essentially irreversible time – decelerating cosmological time and irreversible discrete time of a microcosm. It discusses recent astronomical observations that reveal evidence of the cosmological deceleration of the pace of time in the distant cosmos, in the solar system and on earth. The structure of the model of irreversible discrete time of a microcosm, as considered in the book, allows for the existence of both time and anti-time. In particular, the model predicts new uncertainty relations and violation of the mirror symmetry of the integral internal parity of the entire population of micro particles that correspond to current studies of elementary particle physics.

What makes history difficult to learn is the fact that one has to travel in time. Studying events and circumstancesfrom a time perspective different from our own is something that doesn't come naturally to people. Itis an ability that has to be acquired. This book discusses teaching and learning history from the perspective of passage of time. Time experiencesexist in different shapes and dimensions, one of which is historical time. The specific characteristics of thekind of time are defined in this study, based on philosophical and psychological insights, as well as on theoryof history. The differences with other kinds of time, such as daily time and social time, are outlined. Six keyconcepts of historical time are then defined: chronology, periodization, relics, anachronism, contingency, andgenerations - meaning a specific way of dealing with the generations of our predecessors. The main issuesfor teaching historical thinking are described using these six categories. An inventory is made of what isknown about them from existing research and what questions still need further investigation. An empirical study is reported about the means students preferably use to orient in historical time: timelinesand numbered years attached to events, or imaginative-associative contexts? It is demonstrated that 'images of time' are the optimum means for historicalorientation. An historical consciousness of time is essential to an open democratic society. The one-dimensional perspec...

Seminar paper from the year 2011 in the subject Communications - Intercultural Communication, grade: 1,0, European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder) (Intercultural Management), course: Leadership. An alternate take, language: English, abstract: Day by day we are woken up by the alarm. The clock schedules our daily routine. Punctuality at work is emphasized. Deadlines are considered to be accomplished on time. The clock drives us to undertake a certain amount of tasks during the day. In Western societies time is considered as resource, which can be spent, saved or lost. Thus, it represents a force, which drives our lives. Timetables and calendars create the feeling of time pressure. This phenomenon implies a big gap between the time an individual lives and the one the same person feels inside like a body clock. Hence, especially in task-oriented management, issues concerning time occur. Furthermore, cultural differences cause a variation of time perceptions. In fact, social time, as a culturally determined interpretation of time, has a great impact on business culture. On the one hand, the sense of social time influences expatriate managers going overseas, who have to adapt the local time perception; on the other hand, it concerns leaders, who have to juggle with two time perceptions in order to organize cross-border collaborations. Punctuality serves as prime example for time perception. While in Western Europe timekeeping represents a virtue, in Southern Europe dates are ...

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Art - Miscellaneous, grade: 83%, , course: BA (Hons) Fine Arts, language: English, abstract: This thesis aims to understand the underlying motivations and contexts of artists who question the disconnection between urban life and nature especially with respect to aspects of time. The methodology used is largely about the analysis of artwork. The strategies adopted by the artists discussed here vary from critiquing the ambitions of city builders in their pursuit of controlling time to shunning urban time altogether and reaching for the rhythms of nature. In order to ground this understanding of artwork in the contemporary context the thesis explores how contemporary urban life changes our experience of time and how this separates us from the natural world. Theories regarding the relationship of the human, the natural world and the passage of time are covered in order to contextualize this analysis. These include the study of entropy by Robert Smithson, Martin Heidegger's theory of the "earth and the world" and Georges Bataille's ideas about the human impulse to annul the passage of time. The eastern philosophy of Zen and the aesthetics of Wabi Sabi that in many ways corroborate the ideas proposed by western thinkers have also been considered. It was concluded that the connection with the natural world is governed by the experience of time and its relationship to the human ego. The time of the cities is so control...

Essay from the year 2014 in the subject Philosophy - Miscellaneous, grade: B, , language: English, abstract: Can an ontological or cosmological God be explained at hand of modern physics? E.g.: proof, to a certain degree, for a predetermined plan can be found in a way time is conceived by man; in the way time and space, thus relative motion, are inherently connected.Another quite exaggerated example would be: if time travel were possible, would tourists from the future have not already come to us? That question's unanswerability can only plea for the existence of discontinuous time: as in space- time.Thereby: the supposed negative values of time as a vector cannot exist, time is surely discontinues, thus had a starting point, for which in the consequences of time, the past sequences should be in favor of the present. For which a reason, e.g. constants like the gravitational constants seem to differ in space and time, not only being while dependent of the environment, but literally of the time it is measured in.Where God can be compared to time, it neither is to be overcome; where time cannot be proved to have existed before the Big Bang; thus before the initiation of the everything's motion, time was unmeasurable, and cannot have negative values, for that reason.Let me introduce a new analogy, compare the Big Bang to matter at a temperature of 0 Kelvin; time would still exist since one can perform motion to take account of the motionless object. While time does not inf...

The development of the American nation has typically been interpreted in terms of its expansion through space, specifically its growth westward. In this innovative study, Thomas Allen posits time, not space, as the most significant territory of the young nation. He argues that beginning in the nineteenth century, the actual geography of the nation became less important, as Americans imagined the future as their true national territory.Allen explores how transformations in the perception of time shaped American conceptions of democratic society and modern nationhood. He focuses on three ways of imagining time: the romantic historical time that prevailed at the outset of the nineteenth century, the geological "deep time" that arose as widely read scientific works displaced biblical chronology with a new scale of millions of years of natural history, and the technology-driven "clock time" that became central to American culture by century's end. Allen analyzes cultural artifacts ranging from clocks and scientific treatises to paintings and literary narratives to show how Americans made use of these diverse ideas about time to create competing visions of American nationhood.

Samuel K.K. Blankson TIME AND THE APPLICATION OF TIME

2814 руб.
In this monograph, the Ghanaian philosopher, Samuel K. K. Blankson, takes up the question of time. He argues that time and the application of time are two different things in the mind, but often they are conflated in practice. For example, he says if you want to know the true nature of time you cannot rely on the clock, no matter how it is analysed. Under relativity there is no longer a universal time; therefore how we get our own peculiar earth time to programme into the clock is what you want to know. Also he claims that the merger of space and time in the Minkowski theory of "space-time" is tautology; it is not a new way of giving us our earth time as "space-time". To merge time with space means the time was there already! On the other hand, to argue that there is time already but has now been merged with space is logically untenable---man cannot use mathematics alone to alter natural entities physically.

On Leaving: Poetry, Daesthetics, Timelessness investigates an etymological wildcard "leaving" in the spaces between philosophy, literature, and poetry as intervals of the fleeting in deep time signatures, between the veils of finitude. Postponement, doors/ thresholds, traces, death, time, writing, leaves/pages, undecidability, and more, are aporias in flux, intervals of the leaving. As an etymological poetics in deep timelessness, what Lori Martindale calls a daesthetic trope, a plurality in time signatures of imperfection; opens the indefinable. As an interval of poetics of language, a space between timelessness and finitude, betwixt poetry and philosophy, this book investigates time-less-ness as finite (leaving), of indeterminate flux, and fluid. In the intervals of deep time and daesthetics, investigated in sites of reading Jacques Derrida's Aporias and The Gift of Death, Avital Ronell's text Stupidity, echoes in Friedrich Nietzsche's Ear, Jean-Luc Nancy on Listening, Wolfgang Schirmacher, Luce Irigaray's work on language, as well as other key philosophers and scenes of media: poetry, literature, drama, and art. This study estimates the effect of the unemployment insurance wage replacement rate on reemployment wages in the U.S. using the sample of men in the 1996 and 2001 Surveys of Income and Program Participation. I model employment search behavior in a dynamic discrete time hazard setting with three possible outcomes: finding a full-time job, finding a part-time job, or staying unemployed (continuing the job search). I find that reemployment wages decrease with the unemployment insurance wage replacement rate. Furthermore, the wage replacement rate depresses the prospect of finding full-time work while increasing the prospect of finding part-time work.

What we call time in physics is not a real entity in the universe. The real entities in the universe are matter and energy. Energy gives motion to matter or allows the transformation of matter, giving us the illusion of passing time or more precisely a perception of an Òarrow of timeÓ.The mistake about using time as a real entity in physics came first in the 18th century when L. Euler, in 1752, states that acceleration of a body is the time derivative of velocity.Instead, we will use dÕAlembert definition of acceleration deduced by experimental results: (phi*dt)=dv, where dt is not time differential as in differential calculation but only a small constant of ÒdurationÓ, and phi the acceleration. Einstein theory was to think that time is a real entity in the universe and then space-time coordinates can describe the universe.

In these 'scientific romances' H. G. Wells sees the present reflected in the future and the future in the present. His aim is to provoke rather than predict. The Sleeper falls into a trance, waking up two centuries later as the richest man in a world of new technologies, power-greedy leaders, sensual elites, and brutalised industrial slaves. Arriving in the year 802,701, the Time-Traveller finds that humanity has evolved into two drastically different species; going farther still, he witnesses the ultimate fate of the solar system. The Chronic Argonauts, the original version of The Time Machine, pits a scientist with daring views of time and space against superstitious villagers. In all three works Wells laces vivid adventure stories with the latest ideas in biology and physics.

Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Business economics - Personnel and Organisation, grade: 1,1, Humboldt-University of Berlin (Angewandte Mikroökonometrie / Arbeitsmarktökonomik), language: English, abstract: Working time and wages represent two elementary components of economic welfare. Yet, in spite of both having witnessed signicant changes during recent decades, economists have expended far greater efforts on probing changes in the structure of wages than on exploring trends in the composition of working hours. Using data from the German Socio-Economic Panel for the period from 1984 to 2009, my thesis sets out to do three things: firstly, to document recent changes in the distribution of hours; secondly, to describe the related trends in part-time employment; and thirdly, to elaborate on the interrelation between hours, wages, and incomes. My results show a protracted decline of average hours that materialises next to a growing diversication of working time between and within different groups of the labour market. I find a secular expansion of part-time work that has accomodated a surge of femaleemployment, and appealed to young and low-skilled workers alike. Due to a persistently high share of full-time work among men, male income inequality is extensively shaped by changes in the distribution of wages. Among women, where part-time arrangements are common, both hours and wages exert a commensurate impact on the distribution of incomes.Restricting atten...

The Ancient Science of Time and Number rediscovered. This book discloses the Law of Number as the Supreme Law of the Universe and as the expression of God´s Will to Be in time-space. It defines and presents the Essential Forces of Creation in time-space as distinct numeric patterns. It demonstrates how the Sacred Science of Number has been made "a secret" by individuals who abused it over the past two millennia in order to exalt their own perishable selves, leading to the sore plight of the world as we see it today. The main revelations brought by this book include that of Earth as a Place of Judgment for the entire Solar System and the Scientific Truth of Salvation and Perdition, the Innermost Secret of Qabbalistic "Time-Theft" by Exchange of Inner Time Cycles, the Great Solar Eclipse Cycle of Usurpation of Political Power by the World Priesthood, and Sex as the Highest Mystery of Being. The book reveals the Method of Attunement to the Essential Forces of Creation and Inner Time Re-adjustment.

The results of the suggested research were obtained in the course of the analysis of the descriptions of the brain limbic system's (BLS) structures. The model of the neuron was synthesized as the basic building material for the BLS and it fits the functions the BLS performs. The model of a neuron was created with the following features: the ability to get adapted to various changes of input signals, to get synchronized; the ability for spatio-time accumulating of a set of excitations; the possession of the mechanism of excitation and inhibition; the ability to process input information in time slots according to the phase of the corresponding sensor modality. The comparison the results of known electrophysiological experiments with the results of computer experiments confirmed the adequacy of the model and its living prototype. It was introduced the concept of cyclic and discrete micro interval time (time slots) for processing of sensor information of one modality. To justify the existence of these time slots, the following conceptions were used: the holographic nature of the neural network and the informational exchange between living cells realized by coherent bio photons.

""Flowers for Alys"" is a tale from another time and another place. The time is in the distant past; the place is somewhere where a family could live an apparently normal, quiet life without any of the pressures or the pleasures of our modern-day world. In the past events could be beautiful and wonderful, or terrible and tragic. Sometimes all together. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so they say. But that beholder must be careful to be looking in the right direction, and at the right time.

Bringing together dozens of voices in her distinctive style of oral history, Secondhand Time is a monument to the collapse of the USSR, charting the decline of Soviet culture and speculating on what will rise from the ashes of Communism. As in all her books, Alexievich gives voice to women and men whose stories are lost in the official narratives of nation-states, creating a powerful alternative history from the personal and private stories of individuals. When the Swedish Academy awarded Svetlana Alexievich the Nobel Prize in Literature, they praised her "polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering and courage in our time," and cited her for inventing "a new kind of literary genre." Sara Danius, the permanent secretary of the Swedish Academy, added that her work comprises "a history of emotions -- a history of the soul."

Testing his time machine for the first time, a Victorian scientist finds himself in the year 802,701 ad. Encountering a childlike people called the Eloi, who live in futuristic buildings and have no need of work, the Time Traveller speculates that the human race has evolved to live in a peaceful utopian society. But when his time machine is stolen by a brutish subterranean people called the Morlock, the Time Traveller must enter their realm in order to continue his journey through time.H. G. Wells is credited with the popularisation of time travel, and introduced the idea of time being the "fourth dimension" a decade before the publication of Einstein's first Relativity papers. The Time Machine also reflects on Wells' views on the antagonism between social classes resulting from different economic and social interests, and the evolution of the human condition. Included is The Grey Man, which was originally written as chapter 11 to The Time Machine, but was removed before publication, and later published as a short story.

Time travel novels are always fairly clear about one point, which is this: the fabric of space-time is not a thing to be trifled with. People can't change what's supposed to happen in history. When people attempt to change history, that's always when all hell breaks loose. Indeed, if people don't take care to protect the sanctity of the timeline, the whole universe could collapse into nothingness. That's one theory, anyway. But it's not the premise of Time Tourists, a book in the Douglas Adams tradition of humourous science fiction and in the Harry Turtledove tradition of plausible alternative history. This book is based on a different premise. What would happen if people could go back in time and mess with everything - with no consequences?

Time series analysis is one of the power ful statistical methods which helps in the identifying the phenomenon generated through time.To apply time series analysis on the given data the prerequisite is that the series must not be random. Timely generated data includes different areas like monthly sales, closing price on successive months or days, monthly rainfall patterns of a plac, temperature etc. The pattern of rainfall in a certain area can affect positively and negatively the price of somce commodities like unrefined butter depending on its amount and distribution. For example, when there is enogh amount of rainfall in a certain locality the grazing for cattles will be at good condition and at the same time the production of milk will also be high which bi implies the good supply of butter in the market. As the supply of a commodity is high its price gets to low and the vise versa. The focus of this book is to show that the impact of rainfall patterns on the orice of unrefined butter in given locality after some time and estimating the number of lags required for starting of the influence of one or more phenomena on the other.

Africans, both home, and in the diaspora, handle time. Time is central, critical, and crucial to our human existence. The Creator-God respected time very much in the creation account in Genesis Chapters 1 and 2. Maximum utilization of time leads to development and progress. Conversely, the misuse and misappropriation of time are “friendly” to poverty. The twenty-four hours divided into three segments of discussion and analysis in this book tell the full story. Time is priceless and most valuable. It is key to our survival as a people. What is “African Punctuality?” It is more than you think. Read more about it in this book. Lord Chesterfield, a British Statesman (1694-1773), says, “Know the true value of time, snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination. Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today. Whatever is worth doing at all is worth doing well. I recommend you to take care of the minutes, for the hours will take care of themselves.”
