Creativity is a hot topic in education. As such, there is no shortage of insights or suggestionsfor how teachers might incorporate creativity into their curriculum. Wadingthrough these suggestions can, however, be quite daunting. This is because many ofthese suggestions imply that teachers need to somehow radically change their approachto teaching, adopt a new curriculum, or add-on to their existing curriculum. Consequently, many teachers feel that such changes are not feasible and may even come at thecost of supporting students' academic learning. This book provides an alternative. Teachers need not adopt a new curriculum, radicallychange what they are already doing, or attempt to add more to their already overflowingplate of curricular responsibilities. Rather, teaching for and with creativity is often more about doing what one is alreadydoing, only slightly better. The aim of this book is to help teachers understand how they can make slight changes to their own teaching, which can substantiallysupport the development of students' creative potential and result in a more creative approach to teaching. Theinsights and practical suggestions presented in this book represent some of the newest and most promising work being donein the field of creativity studies. This book is unique in that it presents teachers with concrete ideas for how to simultaneouslysupport creativity and learning. A particularly novel feature of this book is that it offers a blend of theoretical insig...

In past decade, the use of ICT in schools increased exponentially. However, ICT integration in teaching is still utilized at a low level. While many ICT professional development programs for teachers focus mainly on developing teachers' technical competency, the effect of their attitude, perception and emotion towards ICT integration is usually neglected. In this book, a social approach to professional development of ICT integration is argued to be important to improve ICT integration. A research was conducted to look at issues of ICT integration from the teachers' perspective and to explore the impact of peer support in enhancing ICT professional development. Based on the research findings, this book draws the focus on developing teachers' intrinsic motivation towards ICT integration. Peer support is found to be an enabler of intrinsic motivation. A sustainable peer support enhanced professional development model is thus developed. This book should help shed some light on developing ICT professional development programs for teachers and should be especially useful to teachers, professional developers and school leaders who want to lift ICT integration to a higher level.

This book investigates the dynamic relationship between masculinity, fiction and teaching answering one central question. How are male teachers influenced by fictional narratives in the construction of masculinities within education? It achieves this in three major steps: by describing a methodological system of narrative analysis that is able to account for the influence of a fictional text alongside a reading of interview data, by focusing on a specific cohort of male teachers in order to measure the influence of a fictional text and the literary tropes they contain, both widening and restricting perceptions of teachers and teaching. The book demonstrates how fictional narratives and their encompassing ideologies can become a powerful force in the shaping of male teachers professional identities. The book focuses on a collection of 22 fictional narratives drawn from the teacher text genre. Each text describes the world of teachers and teaching from differing perspectives, in differing forms including, literary texts; dramatic works such as plays or musicals; feature films; and television and radio series. The teacher text is a popular and prolific genre. HOW DO YOU MOTIVATE TEACHERS TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE?More than ever before, School Administrators want and need answers to this question. Those who have grasped why people behave as they do, can answer this question. Teaching can be more rewarding and effective, if we knew what successful teachers want from their jobs. This book evolved from that need. The book was written to determine the factors, assumptions and conditions that motivate successful teachers. This book was sought to answer the following question: What positive factors can be identified in successful teachers? There are two significant factors that contribute to motivating teachers who remain teaching. Educators and leaders seeking to motivate teachers should first identify what successful teachers find motivating. The major task is to determine the influencing factors and navigate strategies for enhancing motivation, which serves the needs of all teachers. Unless we find a way to attract and attain the best teachers, our legislative recommendations will not amount to anything. Teachers are the heart of the matter. The study of motivation and behavior is a search for answers to perplexing questions about human nature. It is important that we understand what keeps individuals in the classroom teaching and why they want to continue coming back over and over again. If any school district Superintendent, Principal or Administrator is seeking ways to improve student achievement, improving the motivation of teachers is...
