The must-have guide on how to protect yourself during the coming age of hyperinflation The Petersen/Pew Commission on Budget Reform recently warned that the national debt was expected to grow from 40 percent of the gross domestic product (GDP) in 2009 to 85 percent in 8 years, 100 percent in 12 years, and 200 percent by 2038. In other words, in just a few years the U.S. will owe twice as much as it produces. Since no conceivable level of taxes and borrowing will enable the country to service such an enormous debt, it is inevitable that government will turn to the same tricks its antecedents have been playing since Ancient Rome: debasing the dollar and letting inflation run rampant. Inflation-Proof Your Portfolio: Protect Your Money from the Coming Government Hyperinflation is your guide to understanding the debt crisis and rising inflation, packed with the key tools you need to protect yourself from the fallout. Neither an economic treatise nor a collection of specific investment advice, the book is intended as a resource to help empower citizens to take action to protect their money from the coming government-induced hyperinflation Essential reading for individual investors and general business readers alike who want to keep their money safe when inflation sets in A runaway self-publishing hit, this new edition is fully revised and updated Get the information you need to formulate your own plan of action to protect your investments The U.S. dollar is almost certain to have a sustained run of extremely high inflation over the next decade because of continued huge government deficits and unfunded liabilities, and this book is the resource you need to be ready.

Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2011 in the subject Economics - Finance, grade: A, University of Newcastle, language: English, abstract: During the past two decades, China's economy has been growing rapidly, so has the inflation rate. This research focuses on the relationship between China's inflation rate and economic growth. There are three sub-questions, consisting of whether there is a significant correlation between China's inflation and economic growth, whether there is a cause-and-effect relationship between China's inflation and economic growth, and how time factor influences their relationship. The result will be helpful for the government to find a way in order to achieve high economic growth and low inflation. After reviewing empirical literature, we know that as the dada and methods differ, different researchers have generated different conclusions regarding the relationship between inflation and economic growth. In this research, we use CPI to measure inflation rate and GDP growth rate to measure economic growth rate. All the data are collected from the National Bureau of Statistics of China. We use three methods to analyse data, including the Correlation Coefficient test, the Granger Causality test as well as the VAR model analysis. The result turns out to be that there is a bidirectional causality relationship between inflation and economy growth, but the relationship is not so strong because CPI is not solely driven by GDP. At last,...

This research focuses on a comparative analysis of government intervention on sporting facilities in the countries of Ireland and New Zealand. Both counties have rich sporting heritages with GAA dominating the sporting culture in Ireland and Rugby playing a similar role in New Zealand. These counties also have similar demographics and economies which make them suitable for a comparative analysis to be conducted. A large amount of finance has been invested in sport in Ireland over the last decade and this has seen some changes in the sporting infrastructure within the country. New Zealand has also invested heavily in the sport sector and the purpose of the comparative analysis will be to critically examine these changes and evaluate their success or failure.

Denise Caruso Intervention. Confronting the Real Risks of Genetic Engineering and Life on a Biotech Planet

INTERVENTION challenges two of the most sacred tenets of modern society, innovation and technology, from the perspective of the unique risks they present. Using genetic engineering as its model, it paints a vivid picture of the scientific uncertainties that biotech risk evaluations dismiss or ignore, and lays bare the power and money conflicts between academia, industry and regulators that have sped these risky innovations to the market. Intervention champions an alternative method for assessing the risks of technology, developed by the world's top risk experts, that can eliminate such conflicts, help regain public trust in science and government, and drive research and development toward more useful, safer products.

Arcade Ndoricimpa Inflation, output growth and their uncertainties in South Africa: Empirical evidence from an asymmetric multivariate GARCH-M model

The study examines the relationships between inflation uncertainty and output growth uncertainty, and analyzes their effects on the level of inflation and output growth in South Africa. An asymmetric multivariate GARCH-M model suggested by Grier et al. (2004) is applied. The findings suggest that while uncertainty about growth is detrimental to output growth inflation uncertainty is not. The findings further reveal that Cukierman and Meltzer (1986) hypothesis of a positive impact of inflation uncertainty on the level of inflation is supported and there exists a negative impact of output growth uncertainty on inflation. No association could be found between inflation uncertainty and output growth uncertainty. The findings imply that output growth and its uncertainty should not be treated separately as it is usually suggested by business cycle models. In addition, both output growth uncertainty and inflation uncertainty should be considered as part of the determinants of output growth in South Africa.

Government organizations spend enormous amounts and employ a large percentageof the work force. They have an undeniably huge impact on the national economyand wealth, but remain to be, for the most part, unmanaged. Governmentscan and should run better, and this book can help.Written by Dr. Dale Geiger, who has spent the last 22 years studying the motivation, role, and development of management control processes and managerialcost accounting systems in government, this book looks at how governmentcan move from "rule driven" to "leadership driven" management. Specifically, itdocuments and discusses specific examples of successful cost informed decisionmaking and cost management and control in government. It also delineates therequirements of such success and explores the special needs of transforming themanagement culture of government from its well-embedded past practices to anew paradigm of leadership driven management. What passes for management is a combination of oversight and audit. Oversightis primarily reactive: offering negative feedback for failures and demandingadditional rules and regulations to prevent reoccurrences. Audits look for "bright line" discrepancies and clear violations to those rules and regulations. Working in tandem, these processes provide indignant sound bites and the appearance of management that is really mindless compliance to rules. This book takes a detailed look at all this and the intricacies of our "unmanaged" ...

Fanos Ashenafi Gebremeskel Structural Time Series Modelling of Crime Rates. the Case of Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Doktorarbeit / Dissertation aus dem Jahr 2012 im Fachbereich Statistik, Hawassa University, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: The basic goal of this study was to model monthly crime rates and the impact of sentence reforms on reported crime in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, over the study period of April 2002 to January 2012 GC by incorporating intervention effects. Monthly data obtained from Addis Ababa Police Commission for a total of 118 months were used. The impact of this legislation on reported crime rates was examined using OLS regression model and time series approaches. In particular, structural time series models were employed for the intervention analysis. The best fitted models were selected based on the model capturing the variations in the data accessed through Rs2, AIC and BIC. Comparisons of the selected model were carried out based on ability of prediction via predictive error variance. Both the local level and local linear trend models with inclusion of seasonal and cyclical effects was found to be the best fitted model for modelling of both property and violent crimes, such as murder, aggravated assault, rape, robbery, burglary and larceny. The result of the analysis shows that the coefficient of intervention was negative to rate of murder, robbery, rape and larceny but it was significant only for larceny. The effect of macroeconomic variables such as food inflation, non-food inflation, general inflation and unemployment were statistically significant for aggravated assa...

Aaron Murchan Is a Cosmopolitan Approach to Humanitarian Intervention feasible within the current International Order

Projektarbeit aus dem Jahr 2017 im Fachbereich Politik - Internationale Politik - Thema: Völkerrecht und Menschenrechte, , Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Humanitarian intervention is an issue at the centre of international relations and is shrouded in uncertainty. The logic supporting humanitarian intervention is clear in that it aims to save lives and end conflict. Yet, many questions remain as to what is the correct approach to humanitarian intervention. This dissertation aims to clarify these questions through exploring a cosmopolitan approach to humanitarian intervention. Drawing on extensive research, a thin cosmopolitan approach is promoted as the most feasible within the current international order. This approach is developed through an exploration of ethical cosmopolitanism which addresses such questions as when to intervene, who may intervene and how to execute the intervention. A cosmopolitan approach also requires institutional change but the more radical and traditional ideas that cosmopolitanism is associated with such as the creation of a world government or a world army clash with the contemporary international order of states. For this reason, a regional humanitarian intervention force alongside a thin cosmopolitan ethical basis capable of functioning within the current international order will be proposed.Ultimately, having utilized the framework of the contemporary international order it is concluded that a cosmopolitan approach to humanitarian intervention is f...

Arcade Ndoricimpa Threshold effects of inflation on economic growth in selected African regional economic communities: Evidence from a dynamic panel threshold modeling

The objective of this study is to estimate inflation threshold and examine its impact on the inflation-growth nexus in selected African regional economic communities. While a number of empirical studies exist in this area for developing countries, they bundle up countries from Asia, Africa and Latin America which do not have the same inflation experiences. This study therefore focuses on Africa. However, since African regional groupings themselves have different inflation experiences, non-linearity in the relationship between inflation and growth is explored within each grouping separately. The study uses dynamic panel threshold modeling recently suggested by Kremer et al. (2013) which extends the non-dynamic panel threshold model of Hansen (1999) and the cross-sectional threshold model of Caner and Hansen (2004). The results indicate that the estimated inflation threshold is different across the regional economic communities. Nonlinearity in inflation-growth nexus seems to hold in CEMAC, COMESA and SADC while it is questioned in WAEMU and WAMZ. For CEMAC, COMESA and SADC, the findings indicate that inflation above the threshold is harmful to growth. Some correlations are established in this study but further analysis is needed to suggest a policy.

Otieno Manaseh The relationship between inflation and income inequality in Kenya

Inflation in Kenya has been a common phenomenon since independence. The focus of this study is to determine whether there exists an empirical relationship between inflation and income inequality in Kenya. The study concluded that though there seemed to be no long run relationship between inflation and income inequality in Kenya, their association was only detectable in periods characterized by shocks in inflationary trends. The study recommends that Kenya as a country should device means of effectively maintaining inflation at low levels. This can be achieved by; reducing government expenditure so as to avoid a situation of deficit monetization to cover for the budget deficit, development in agricultural technology so that the food production ceases to be rain dependent, research and development in the energy sector so that crude oil becomes an alternative rather than the major source of energy in the country. High and sustainable economic growth should be considered paramount in all efforts towards reducing the level of inequality and alleviating poverty.

Brian Phillips Individual Rights and Government Wrongs

From the Tea Parties to Occupy Wall Street, Americans are not happy with their government and they are making their displeasure known. But what is causing this divide? And what is the solution? Individual Rights and Government Wrongs examines two fundamentally different views regarding what type of nation America should be. Using examples from history and the contemporary world, this book looks at what happens when individuals are free and what happens when government intervenes in the lives of citizens. Individual Rights and Government Wrongs challenges both conservatives and progressives. It rejects the notion that government intervention is ever practical or moral, no matter the issue, no matter the "general welfare" that will allegedly result, no matter the "will of the people." If you are concerned about the future of America, Individual Rights and Government Wrongs will give you the intellectual ammunition you need to fight current trends.

Benjamin Viertel Inflation Targeting in the United Kingdom

Especially since the operational introduction as central bank monetary policy framework in the early 1990s in New Zealand, the United Kingdom (UK), Canada and Sweden, inflation targeting has gained both empirical and theoretical relevance as a monetary policy strategy. In this paper I relate to inflation targeting theory and its framework in the UK. For that purpose the author first regards the development of inflation targeting in respect to other monetary policy strategies. He answers the question what the actual target variable is and why one would want to have inflation being low and stable. Then there is some complexity because the development of inflation targeting has to be viewed in relation to paradigmatic debates between Monetarist and New-Keynesian insights. He present the two fundamental views of how an inflation targeting framework should be modelled. By stating some equations from basic theoretical literature, he gives an overview about the different characteristics of that monetary policy strategy and how there is still controversy about the way of modelling. One chapter is concerned with the operational framework in the UK, including statements to historical developments at the Bank of England. The present monetary policy framework will be reviewed in detail relating to the Bank's publication policy and the inflation forecasting process. The Bank of England's model of the transmission mechanism is reviewed. This includes the interest rate setting proce...

Asthma is a common chronic disease in Australia with suboptimal self-care. The peak flow meter (PFM) is a simple device recommended as part of asthma self-management, but is largely underutilised in current practice. This project aims to explore the prospect of a pharmacist-instigated asthma self-management intervention, and whether the introduction of a PFM with appropriate education can improve asthma control and engagement in asthma self-management. The study was designed as a crossover before-and-after randomised controlled-intervention pilot study. Twelve participants completed the study, who were adults living in Darwin, previously diagnosed with asthma and did not use a PFM regularly. Participants in the intervention group were provided with a PFM and asthma education. The study then evaluated participants' awareness and asthma control using validated questionnaires and formative feedback. The effects of PFM utilisation on asthma knowledge and asthma control were not statistically significant in either groups, however, the majority of participants' feedback indicated an increased awareness and better quantification of asthma control.

Early intervention (EI) is the single most important advance in mental health care in recent decades, representing a key shift in both theoretical standpoint and service delivery. Early Intervention in Psychiatry clearly describes best practice for extending this approach to all psychiatric disorders. Beginning with the rationale for EI, it informs interventions in people from all age groups across the lifespan, from perinatal to old age. It addresses EI in specific settings, such as primary health care, community health, the general hospital, non-government agencies, and in social movements, and for specific disorders including depression and anxiety, alcohol and substance use, childhood disorders, psychoses, bipolar disorders, eating disorders and borderline personality disorders. Early Intervention in Psychiatry is an essential guide for all psychiatrists, general practitioners, family physicians and public health doctors. It is also a valuable resource for mental health professionals and primary care colleagues, including nurses, social workers, psychologists, occupational therapists, vocational rehabilitation specialists, peer and support workers and for mental health commissioners and policy-makers.

Inflation targeting is a monetary policy framework that attracted many countries in the 1990s as a result of the disappointing performance under other regimes, mainly exchange rates targeting or monetary aggregate targeting. Due to its success in many developed and developing countries, the Central Bank of Egypt announced its intention to introduce inflation targeting regime to anchor its monetary policy when the basic prerequisites are satisfied. The book outlines the theoretical justification behind choosing inflation targeting and discusses its advantages and disadvantages, as well as compares it with other monetary regimes. The core of the book is to investigate the applicability of inflation targeting regime in Egypt by examining the extent to which the conditions of that regime are met.

The study was employed Johansen method of co-integration and vector error correction model and a technique of conditional least square. The result shows that both in long-run and short-run the relationship between inflation and economic growth is positive. Despite to this, the granger causality test tells us bi- directional causation between these two variables. The result also revealed that threshold level of inflation beyond on which inflation negatively affects economic growth of Ethiopia is 5 percent. Therefore, co-ordination between macro- economic policy makers is vital and should have to raise their hands and put their eyes on measures that keep down inflation below 5 percent to have sustainable economic growth in the country.

One of the most astonishingly versatile British writers of the 19th century, art critic JOHN RUSKIN (1819-1900) held a profound sway on European painting and architecture of the 19th and 20th centuries...but he was also a vital influence on the ideals of the later British Labour party, on Gandhi's peaceful revolution, and on our modern notions of charity and charitable organizations. In this 1862 collection of essays, Ruskin lays out his humanist theory of economics and calls for government intervention in the economy to serve values of social justice, of morality, and of higher aesthetics. Ahead of its time and still of great significance today, this is an inspiring vision of how government and culture might work together for the betterment of all._______________________ALSO FROM COSIMORuskin's Sesame and Lilies: Three Lectures

The model contains real GDP per capita for economic growth, trade as share of GDP and the control variables such as financial development, government spending, annual inflation, remittances and manufacturing as shares of GDP are also used as determinants of economic growth for the period of 1973 - 2007. The second part of the study investigates the link between international trade and poverty reduction along with several independent variables. The model contains head count ratio for poverty, trade as share of GDP and the other determinants of poverty like real GDP per capita, consumer price index proxy for inflation, total investment, and agriculture as shares of GDP and urbanization as share of total population are also used.

Seminar paper from the year 2010 in the subject Politics - International Politics - Region: USA, grade: 1.5, University of Luzern (Politikwissenschaftliches Seminar), course: Hauptseminar: The Politics of Humanitarian Intervention, language: English, abstract: This research paper deals with the question of how and in what ways the American yellow press - the New York Journal in particular - and its manipulated news of the humanitarian crisis in Cuba under Spanish colonial rule and the subsequent publicpressure influenced the American government in the decision to intervene in 1898 (The Spanish-American War). It is argued that it was a media-driven humanitarian intervention with numerous connectors from media to politics. To evaluate this, the explanatory links and the causal mechanism/process are made clear by connecting empirical media data to modern theoretical concepts of media and politics, such as framing and agenda-setting. The findings reveal that there were several kinds of interactionsbetween the New York Journal to the political sphere, making this case of intervention an excellent example of how (in this case, biased) information may trigger a variation in policy outcomes concerning humanitarian interventions.

Nurse-led intervention research is a core component of the global initiative to improve quality of care. Though research in this area has already contributed much to the advancement of patient care, future strides depend on the dissemination of practical, how-to instruction on this important area of research. Design, Evaluation, and Translation of Nursing Interventions aids in this endeavour by presenting both general approaches and specific methods for developing nursing interventions. Logically organized to facilitate ease of use, the book is divided into four sections. The introduction provides a firm grounding in intervention science by situating it within the broader topics of evidence-based practice, client-centred care, and quality of care. Section Two describes each step of intervention design, including correct identification of the health issue or problem, clarification of the elements comprising an intervention, and application of theory. Section Three is centred on implementation, highlighting such topics as development of the intervention manual, training interventionists, and intervention fidelity. The book concludes with methods to evaluate interventions enacted and suggestions for their translation into practice. Design, Evaluation, and Translation of Nursing Interventions distills the authors’ years of expertise in intervention research into comprehensive, easy-to-follow chapters. It is a must-have resource for students, researchers and healthcare professionals wishing to impact the future of patient care.

Polemic Paper from the year 2016 in the subject Business economics - Economic Policy, , language: English, abstract: President Ronald Reagan promoted and passed into law provisions of an economic plan that came to be known as Reaganomics. The principles of his plan were based on the neoliberal economic theory originally developed by Friedrich Hayek and Ludwig Von Mises of the Austrian school of economics. The major principles followed by Reaganomics were as follows: 1) totally free markets, devoid of government intervention are the best way to promote economic growth and personal freedom, 2) the government should refrain from any interference economic matters, 3) taxes should be kept at as low as possible to stimulate economic growth, 4) government regulations should be eliminated except those that ensure contracts, 5) government should not own businesses or property and should privatize those that it does own, and 6) international trade should be promoted by removing all tariffs and quotas. Laws and policies based on neoliberalism were passed from 1981 through 2008 in the US and have had influence on the national economy down to the present. Based on analysis of economic results and political developments during the period this paper argues that Reaganomics and neoliberalism have failed to improve economic growth and the preserve personal freedom above that provided by of the Welfare State which has developed in the US and OECD countries for more than a hundred years. Paul A. Samuelson The Price of Prosperity. A Realistic Appraisal of the Future of Our National Economy (Peter L. Bernstein's Finance Classics)

One of the foremost financial writers of his generation, Peter Bernstein has the unique ability to synthesize intellectual history and economics with the theory and practice of investment management. Now, with classic titles such as Economist on Wall Street, A Primer on Money, Banking, and Gold, and The Price of Prosperity?which have forewords by financial luminaries and new introductions by the author?you can enjoy some of the best of Bernstein in his earlier Wall Street days. First published in 1962, The Price of Prosperity speaks to today's uncertainties as clearly as to those of the past. With chapters like «The Burden of Government» and «The Economics of Democracy,» Bernstein probes the future of an economy during rapidly changing times and the appropriate role of government in determining the ultimate outcome. The questions have not changed over time, but Bernstein's answers help us understand these issues from today's perspective. How much government control is too much control? How much can government spend? How can government influence the level of unemployment? As Bernstein shows how to navigate an ever-changing economic landscape, his timeless insights throughout these pages make The Price of Prosperity as vital and important today as when it appeared in an environment fundamentally different from our own.

Yi Ren The Impact of The Tax Provision on Pay for Performance

Given recent public rage over executive pay, especially over large salaries for executives at companies that have received bailout money, President Obama's administration is working on tougher restrictions on executive compensation. His main principles, consistent with the objectives of Internal Revenue Code Section 162(m), were meant to curb excessive executive compensation and ensure that pay reflects corporate performance. This study provides a retrospective evaluation of the 1993 regulatory intervention on corporate pay decisions, and extends the analysis of the effectiveness of the Internal Revenue Code Section 162(m) on long-term performance. The findings of this paper offer some insights into the economic effects consequent to government legislation and provide suggestions and insights valuable to those persons engaged in current policy intervention attempts.

Scientific Essay from the year 2016 in the subject Biology - Diseases, Health, Nutrition, , language: English, abstract: The prevalence of cervical cancer and mortality rates has continued over the years despite several international and local efforts to reduce it in developing countries particularly sub-Saharan Africa which have the highest prevalence rates globally. This dissertation appraised the factors responsible for cervical cancer prevalence and assayed the efficacy of these interventions with particular focus on Nigeria by identifying the risk factors causing its spread and recommending prevention strategies for best options in reducing rates of cervical cancer in Nigeria.A systematic literature approach was used for the review of studies. This was carried out through database search on the prevalence, risk, mortality, factors and intervention for cervical cancer in developing countries with a narrative analysis to explanation for the local, national and international interventions. The findings revealed that lack of a national policy on cervical cancer on awareness, treatment, prevention and control, limit intervention efforts. Furthermore, massive overlaps in the international intervention programme, paucity of data on the analysis of impact and efficacy of these interventions, including unavailability of vaccine for high risk HPV stymie efforts for the reduction of cervical cancer in Nigeria. It was further established that the lack of a national policy on cervica...

Lena Vogel The Hybrid New Keynesian Phillips Curve and the NAIRU over Time

New Keynesian models of the Phillips Curve generally assume a short run trade-off between inflation and a measure of excess demand due to nominal rigidities, while in the long run inflation is constant at the 'Non-Accelerating Inflation Rate of Unemployment' (NAIRU). By contrast, models such as the 'Triangle Model' of inflation explicitly allow for a time-varying NAIRU. We combine both approaches and estimate state-space models of the hybrid New Keynesian Phillips curve, allowing the short-run NAIRU to vary over time. Moreover, households' inflation expectations are measured directly from consumer surveys by the University of Michigan and the European Commission and are not instrumented for. Our model is estimated for the US, the UK, Italy and Spain and finds considerable variation in the short-run NAIRU over time with NAIRU estimates significantly different from HP-filter derived measures such as usually employed in dynamic stochastic general equilibrium models. Furthermore, we compare stationary and nonstationary NAIRUs, as well as short- and long-run NAIRUs and find that results are generally robust across specifications.

More evidence is required to determine the effects of behavioral programs for other outcomes, including lifestyle behaviors, body composition, diabetes-specific quality of life, diabetes distress, and complications. The first objective is to highlight the reasons for government regulation on business management in Nigeria. Then, the study examines the role of government regulation in the development of business management in Nigeria and it analyzes the strategies used by government in regulating business management in Nigeria. The last objective is to examine the effects of government regulation on business management in Nigeria.A government formulates many rules and regulations that guide businesses. Businesses will normally change the way they operate according to the influence these rules and regulations have on the competitiveness and profitability of businesses. Small business is facing many challenges nowadays, none of which are more forbidding than a burden. Federal government regulations and mandates threaten investment and stifle job growths. When the government imposes regulations on small businesses that drive up the cost of doing business, it's like imposing a tax. Yordanka Chobanova On the way to Eurozone

Is there a necessity for revision of reference values (inflation and deficit) of the Maastricht monetary convergence criteria by considering the equilibrium characteristics of new, catching up member-states? Drawing on governmental documents and reports issued by the IMF, EBRD, Bulgarian Agency for Economic Analysis and Forecasting, Bulgarian and Hungarian National Bank and interviews with former and present governmental officials and respected scholars, this work argues that the existing Balassa- Samuelson (BS) effect in the catching-up transition economies frustrates the possibility for compliance with the Maastricht monetary convergence criteria necessary for EMU membership. The study recommends the Maastricht criteria to be defined in reference to the average inflation rate of the euro zone (the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices, HICP), not the three EU members with the lowest inflation rate.

Money and Government: A Challenge to Mainstream Economics

The dominant view in economics is that money and government should play only a minor role in economic life. Money, it is claimed, is nothing more than a medium of exchange; and economic outcomes are best left to the 'invisible hand' of the market. The view taken in this important new book is that the omnipresence of uncertainty make money and government essential features of any market economy. One reason we need money is because we don't know what the future will bring. Government - good government - makes the future more predictable and therefore reduces this kind of demand for money. After Adam Smith orthodoxy persistently espoused non-intervention, but the Great Depression of 1929-32 stopped the artificers of orthodox economics in their tracks. A precarious balance of forces between government, employers, and trade unions enabled Keynesian economics to emerge as the new policy paradigm of the Western world. However, the stagflation of the 1970s led to the rejection of Keynesian policy and a return to small-state neoclassical orthodoxy. Thirty years later, the 2008 global financial crash was severe enough to have shaken the re-vamped classical orthodoxy, but, curiously, this did not happen. Once the crisis had been overcome - by Keynesian measures taken in desperation - the pre-crash orthodoxy was reinstated, undermined but unbowed. Since 2008, no new 'big idea' has emerged, and orthodoxy has maintained its sway, enacting punishing austerity agendas that leave us with a st...
