This book examines the leadership role of the orchestral conductor. Conducting is one of the most visible manifestations of leadership in action. Because of this, references to conductor leadership can be found in literature on management and studies into organizational leadership as well as corporate-leadership seminars. However, issues of leadership appear to form only a tangential part of conductor training and development. Compared to the in-depth study of musicianship and gestural technique, leadership appears to be a skill left to ‘on-the-job’ experience. In order to explore further the nature of the conductor’s leadership role, a survey of 31 aspiring conductors from eleven different countries forms the original research element of this book. The survey material is analysed and then discussed with reference to established leadership theory. In addition, reference is made to the views of established conductors to be found in openly available interviews. The conclusion proposes three elements to understanding conductor leadership: exploring personal authenticity, two theoretical leadership frameworks, and practical suggestions for accelerating leadership experience.

However, headteachers may lack the leadership skills required of them for effective school management. Thus, the purpose of this study was to assess the types of leadership skills possessed by headteachers, the extent of each type of leadership skills possessed and the relationship between types of leadership skills and years of managerial level experience, with the types of leadership skills possessed by headteachers in Keta Municipality, Akatsi South, and Akatsi North districts of Ghana, as the context. Survey-correlational design was adopted, using a structured questionnaire to gather data from sample size of two hundred and thirty-seven (237) headteachers. Data was analyzed descriptively through frequencies, percentages, means and standard deviations. Findings showed that the headteachers possessed technical skills, human skills and conceptual skills, respectively. With regard to the extent of each type of skill possessed, 62%, 34% and 4% possessed moderate, high and low technical skills, respectively. These banks were chosen for their good solvency and position inside their own country as well as internationally. At the beginning of this paper, we will give a brief overview about the six banks by comparing their Balance Sheets and Income Statements. The insights gained out of this part will be relevant for the further sections. Followed by this, the banks will be compared in this essay using each one of the leadership sub criteria separately one after the other. Strengths and weaknesses of the six banks will be described, and each sub criterion will be analyzed in depth in order to draw meaningful implications. Finally, an overall comparative conclusion will name the relative "winners" and "losers" of this competition, pertaining to the EFQM criterion leadership.
