Mostly, measurements taken from the same subject are not independent. The types of model for data analysis highly depend on the nature and measurement scale of the outcome variable. In this book, the two model families: marginal, and random effect models that take the correlation among measurements of the same subject into account were briefly discussed using real datasets. In case of marginal models the correlated nature of the data is taken into account inside the estimating equation, while for random effects model it is done through the random effect part. In the random effect approach the goal is to determine subject-specific changes over the courses of the study, while in the marginal model the emphasis is to determine the overall change. Joint modeling approaches that used to model different outcomes jointly, and model selection and diagnosis measures were discussed briefly. Moreover, SAS codes used in the analysis for each model type were included in book.

In fluid mechanics, velocity measurement is fundamental in order to improve the behavior knowledge of the flow. Velocity maps help us to understand the mean flow structure and its fluctuations, in order to further validate codes. Laser velocimetry is an optical technique for velocity measurements; it is based on light scattering by tiny particles assumed to follow the flow, which allows the local fluid flow velocity and its fluctuations to be determined. It is a widely used non-intrusive technique to measure velocities in fluid flows, either locally or in a map. This book presents the various techniques of laser velocimetry, as well as their specific qualities: local measurements or in plane maps, mean or instantaneous values, 3D measurements. Flow seeding with particles is described with currently used products, as well as the appropriate aerosol generators. Post-processing of data allows us to extract synthetic information from measurements and to perform comparisons with results issued from CFD codes. The principles and characteristics of the different available techniques, all based on the scattering of light by tiny particles embedded in the flow, are described in detail; showing how they deliver different information, either locally or in a map, mean values and turbulence characteristics.

Für eine verständliche Analyse des Kalman Filters werden zunächst mathematische Kenntnisse bereitgestellt. Diese beinhalten zum einen stochastische Grundlagen, wie zum Beispiel das Wissen über stochastische Verteilungen. Zum anderen wird knapp auf die Analysis eingegangen, in der die Zustandsraumdarstellung für spätere Beschreibungen erklärt wird. Darauf basierend folgt der Kern der Arbeit, worin die vollständige mathematische Herleitung besteht. Angefangen mit einer Zustands- und Messgleichung werden schrittweise auf die fünf Gleichungen des Kalman Filters geschlossen, deren Anwendung am Ende der Herleitung beispielhaft für ein Navigationsproblem eines Kraftfahrzeugs veranschaulich werden. Dadurch dass in der Realität viele Anwendungen von nichtlinearer Natur sind, wird der Kalman Filter so erweitert, dass das Extended Kalman Filter und das Unscented Kalman Filter erwähnt wird. Um auf bestimmte Schwachstellen des Filters zu reagieren, werden auf die adaptive Filterung sowie das duale Kalman Filter aufmerksam gemacht. Die Wichtigkeit der Thematik wird in einem Anwendungsbeispiel für die Ladezustandsbestimmung einer Batterie verdeutlicht.

This is done by merging some already defined algorithms such as Template Matching with new proposed algorithm to strength the detection process and obtaining robust algorithm with good results. Experimental results show that the proposed method is robust under a wide range of lighting conditions, different poses and different races.The proposed method gives a correct detection rate reach 94%.

As a promising technique, OFDM has been widely used in emerging broadband communication systems, such as digital audio broadcasting (DAB), high-definition television (HDTV), and wireless local area network (IEEE 802.11a and HIPERLAN/2).However, as the OFDM signals are the sum of signals with random amplitude and phase, they are likely to have large PAPR that require a linear high-power- amplifier (HPA) with an extremely high dynamic range which is expensive and inefficient. Furthermore, any amplifier nonlinearity causes intermodulation products resulting in unwanted out-of-band power. A number of approaches have been proposed to deal with the PAPR problem, including amongst others, clipping, clipping-and-filtering (CF), coding, companding transform, active constellation extension (ACE), selected mapping (SLM), and partial transmit sequence (PTS).This book proposes an improvement in the selected mapping technique. The resulting scheme can also be applied to the multiple transmitting antenna cases.Further, it compares the simulation results to the existing techniques namely exponential companding transform, repeated clipping and filtering, and adaptive active constellation extension.

In order to determine the tectonic content of the apron, a weather-protected measuring system was developed, which detects the position of disturbances by seismic channel waves. There are two methods for mapping: 1. The Through-Transmission Measurement provides information about a fault in the seam 2. The reflection measurement provides information about the situation. A great sense of accuracy can be achieved with combined use of both methods. The analysis of 111 measurements shows that geological conditions made the accuracy of the measurements very good, while in geologically complex structures the location of the disturbance proved to be very difficult. The loss of resolution associated with envelope formation prevents the detection of clutter. To remedy this situation, the reflected Flözwellenzug must be attributed to a needle pulse. Theoretical investigations confirm this approach. Nowadays the largest E-commerce or E-service websites offer millions of products for sale. A Recommender system is defined as software used by such websites for recommending product items to users according to the users' tastes. In this project, we develop a recommender system for a private multimedia web service company. In particular, we devise three recommendation engines using different data filtering methods - named weighted-average, K-nearest neighbors, and item-based - which are based on collaborative filtering techniques, which work by recording user preferences on items and by anticipating the future likes and dislikes of users by comparing the records, for prediction of user preference. To acquire proper input data for the three engines, we retrieve data from database using three data collection techniques: active filtering, passive filtering, and item-based filtering. For experimental purpose we compare prediction accuracy of those recommendation engines with the results from each engine and additionally we evaluate the performance of weighted-average method using an empirical analysis approach - a methodology which was devised for verification of predictive accuracy.
