Pediatric T.B. is very much prevalent in modern India. Isoniazid, a most commonly used drug, is available in form of tablet and liquid orals but till today no extended release liquid oral is available for pediatric patients. Hence, an attempt is made to formulate multiple emulsion system of Isoniazid. In this study multiple emulsion batches were formulated by double emulsification method with Isopropyl myristate, Span-83 and Tween-80 with Polyvinylpyrolidone (P.V.P.) as a stabilizer. All batches were characterized for average globule size, rheological evaluation, % drug entrapment and especially for In vitro drug release. All batches were found to have almost three months stability in terms of globule size and phase separation.

A tremendous development has been made in the field of controlled drug delivery system in the last few decades. Conventional oral dosage forms provide a specific drug concentration in the systemic circulation without offering any control over the rate of drug delivery. Controlled-release drug delivery systems (CRDDS) provide drug release at a predetermined, predictable, and controlled rate. It was attempt to develop a gastro retentive drug delivery system of anti hypertensive drug using different polymers like that HPMCK4M, Xanthangum, PolyoxWSR303as matrixing agent, swelling agent, respectivel. A simplex lattice design was applied to combined effect of three formulation variables (ie, amount of HPMCK4M (X1), xanthangum (X2), and PolyoxWSR303 (X3). Results of multiple regression analysis indicated that low level of X1 and X 2 and high level of X3 should be used to manufacture the tablet formulation with desired in % swelling index and % drug release profile . When Polyox 303 was used, % swelling index increased, with increase on the total amount of drug released. Decreasing the amount of HPMC K4M while maintaining the total amount of polymer constant increased the release rate and total amount released. Decreasing the total amount of polymer decreases the swelling and work of penetration,

In the present work, floating microspheres of AZH were formulated to provide site specific delivery of drug with a view to providing an effective and safe therapy for eradication of H.pylori with a reduced dose and reduced duration of therapy. The developed floating microspheres of AZH have excellent buoyant ability, high encapsulation and good release pattern. The slow but complete drug release in the stomach is expected to increase bioavailability of the drug as well its complete utilization which may results to lower dose and GI side effects. It can be concluded that optimized multi-unit floating AZH microspheres floating more than 8 hrs in stomach. The floating microsphere is a potential system for delivery of AZH in the stomach. So it is expected to provide clinicians with a new choice of an economical, safe and low dose formulation in the management of eradication of H.pylori.

In preliminary study, The core tablet of Montelukast sodium was prepared by using direct compression method containing SSG, Croscarmellose sodium, Crospovidone, MCC and Starcap1500 to obtain fast disintegrating tablet for the selection of super disintegrating agent. PVAP, CAP and Ratio of Eudragit L 100: Eudragit S 100 was used as pH dependent polymer for coating the core tablets. Total 9 batches were formulated as per 32 full factorial design applied to check the effect of polymer ratio (Eudragit L 100: Eudragit S 100) and the effect of % weight gain on dependent variable lag time PRTs. These formulations were evaluated for physical parameters of tablet, drug -excipient compatibility study, lag time of rupture of PRTs and in-vitro drug release study. PDDS of Montelukast Sodium formulated using Croscarmellose sodium as super disintegrant and Eudragit L 100 and Eudragit S 100 as a coating polymers. Formulation M7 can provide site specific delivery with sigmoidal drug release.

Carbon nanotubes suggested by scientist, have shown promising behavior to act as drug delivery tool as revealed from the present study. Due to greater storage capability of MWCNTs, they were used for the experiments instead of SWCNTs. Plenty of availability CVD prepared MWCNTs was one of the reason behind using them in the experiments. The drug characterization study was designed with at least two objectives in mind. Firstly, comparison of certain experimentally determined properties of the drug with those reported in Pharmacopoeia would authenticate the drug received as gift sample. Secondly, these preliminary studies of the drug properties would help further during more detailed experimental workup. Present study was planned to unravel the potential of CNTs as efficient controlled drug delivery vehicles and the results indicates the prospects of using CNTs as biomedical tools. These findings pave the way for further enhancing the properties of CNTs in terms of storage capacity, targeting potential and improving pharmacokinetics profile of drugs and biomolecules etc.
