With the appraisal of two media 'hot' and 'cold', one-way and two-way, the persuasiveness of messages has increased, thus it is harder for people to be influenced by the message. Traditional models of persuasion do not address interactivity. In a media context that is increasingly dominated by interactive, online content. However, almost all media depend on persuasive messages for income. Therefore it is important to investigate the effectiveness of message. The significance of this book is that it will demonstrate not so much if and how much interactivity is persuasive compared to one-way distribution, but specific persuasion variables. People, most of the times, unconsciously move towards one medium, but what drags them to do so? Variables, the main aspect of the study, that are put forward in this book will demonstrate what people mostly rely on. New media offers more to people, rather than traditional media. A diachronic analysis of the inter- and multi-disciplinarian nature of public speaking in business communication is proposed, as a foundation for a new field of theoretical and applied research. Moreover, public speaking is described here as a basic workplace skill in business communication. Entrepreneurs' public speaking is chosen as an interesting case study: empirical data support the thesis of a strict relationship between entrepreneurs' effectiveness in speaking and the social construction of their meanings. Drawing on those considerations, a more focused reflection on the impact of oratorical skills in business communication contexts is explored.

A guide to strategic communication that can be applied across a range of subfields at all three levels—grand strategic, strategic, and tactical communication Communication is a core function of every human organization so when you work with communication you are working with the very core of the organization. Written for students, academics, and professionals, Strategic Communication Theory and Practice: The Cocreational Model argues for a single unified field of strategic communication based in the three large core subfields of public relations, marketing communication, and health communication, as well as strategic communicators working in many other subfields such as political communication, issues management, crisis communication, risk communication, environmental and science communication, social movements, counter terrorism communication, public diplomacy, public safety and disaster management, and others. The go-to guide for learning what to say and how to say it In this climate of near constant streams of media messages, organizations need to know how to effectively communicate risks to their audiences and what to say when a crisis strikes. Risk and Crisis Communications: Methods and Messages is designed to help organizations understand the essential components of communicating about risks during a crisis, and it carves out a role for safety health and environmental (SH&E) professionals in the process. Covering common theoretical concepts and explaining the positions of noted experts in the field such as Peter Sandman and Vincent Covello, the book provides a fundamental understanding of the process behind crafting effective messages for a variety of different situations and explains the consequences of saying the wrong thing to an emotional audience. Incorporating numerous case studies—including the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and the 2010 H1N1 pandemic—it shows how messages can change the way an audience perceives an event and how they react to it, clearly demonstrating how ineffective messages can create untold difficulties for an organization's public image. Savvy SH&E professionals know that their role in helping to craft risk and crisis messages as well as assisting in the execution of risk communication plans provides a critical path to becoming more valuable members of their organizations. Risk and Crisis Communications: Methods and Messages provides invaluable assistance in helping SH&E professionals add value to their organization.

This book examines the use of media by Kenyan politicians, especially the social media and particularly twitter; the significant case study that Kenyan media launched by holding the first presidential debate prior to March 4th elections: an event that proved to shape voter decision; and the failures of Kenyan media as a watchdog in the coverage of the 2013 elections in Kenya. Cherry Street Publications Reflections of the Media

Reflections of the Media archives the chronology of the media, from the first manifestations of primitive anthropogenic communication on cave walls, to the presupposed actualization of a greater than human super-intelligence, realizing a technological singularity. Reflections of the Media is an archaeological investigation through the eons of human existence aimed at discovering the origins of the media and their impact on civilizations of both antiquity and modernity. Through accounts of ancient inceptions of mass media, the five major media revolutions (print, film, radio, television, and personal computing), and the controversial highlight of a technological singularity, Reflections of the Media investigates the formulation of mass media as both a truthful and deceptive force, offering a dialectical conversation in the discourse of critical media theory.

Various, Joseph Babinsky (Editor) Realms of the Spirit World

Communication with "the dead" is natural. Yet this aspect of human communication is an ability virtually lost to us. It is not lost in the sense that it is beyond recovery. It is only lost in the sense of amnesia. To communicate with our deceased loved ones is like an act of remembering a forgotten treasure. This is not a special ability reserved for only select individuals (like John Edwards). In this book the author offers messages from the spirit world. From the Editor's Preface we read: "Why did I compile these messages into a book called, "Realms of the Spirit World"? First, I did this because I was very impressed and inspired when I first read these messages and I wanted others to read encouraging messages from the other side of the veil. Second, I believe that reading these messages some of the sting and fear of death may be lifted from shoulders. By reading these messages many people may lose the fear of communicating with deceased loved ones."

Kbal Tuba Ah N. Physical Design for Classroom Management

The importance of the physical environment for classroom management in early childhood classrooms has not yet been fully recognized. The information collected in this study about teachers' perceptions can be used to improve the physical environment of early childhood classrooms. Moreover, in the literature there is a lack of studies on early childhood teachers' perceptions related to the physical environment for classroom management. Thus, this study aims to examine the perceptions of a group of early childhood teachers in relation to the influence of the physical environment of the classroom on classroom management. Lastly, since the recognition of the significance and impact of early childhood classrooms increase, the physical environment of these classrooms and its influence on classroom management should be determined to improve early education centers and programs.

Key concepts in the study of media will be presented and explained in regard to how they are represented in DeLillo's novels. The focus will be on the novels and not on the media, after all this is a master's thesis in Literary and not in Communications Studies. Media and media theory, in our age of information capitalism are, now more than ever before, a topic that deserves close scholarly attention. Media theorists agree that to study the media is to study one of the most important topics of the day and that "such study should be compulsory part of every citizens liberal education" (Fred Inglis. Media Theory. An Introduction. Oxford: Basil Blackwell, 1990. p. 6). Most people in their daily lives are permanently surrounded by media. No matter if it is our entertainment, information, health, knowledge, memory, identity, dreams, emotions, or even our dying - all have by now been incorporated by the media. It is impossible to understand our acting and thinking without considering the influence of mediation. Karola Schwindt Marketing communication strategies for fashion brands and measurements of efficiency

Bachelor Thesis from the year 2014 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: 2,0, Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences Mönchengladbach , language: English, abstract: To successfully communicate a fashion brand, not only the advertising message itself has to match with the relevant target group, but also the right media have to be used to address the target group. Communication that wants to catch the brands' target group and wants to be noticed has to meet exactly their lifestyle and attitude. Solely methods of mass communication do not reach the individual target audiences anymore. That is why new ways of communication become more important. This thesis provides a framework of marketing communication strategies, traditional and up-to-date ones, which can be applied to the target groups of the fashion market. Those strategies can be combined almost unlimited. However, the media planning should be carried out target group oriented. With the help of four relevant target audiences and their use of media will be exemplified how a brand can find the suitable strategies for its target group. Knowing how to define whether a strategy was successful, is just as important as gaining the attention of customers through this strategy. Therefore, it will be determined which measurements of efficiency are applicable for which marketing communication strategies.

The "Ready or Not" study examined the perceptions of center-based childcare provider and kindergarten teacher perceptions on school readiness of children with and without disabilities. Findings indicated that reporting childcare providers placed more emphasis on academic readiness skills while kindergarten teachers placed more emphasis on social and behavioral skills. Surveyed participants also indicated their beliefs that children’s preschool experiences are important for school readiness and that children without disabilities tend to be more ready for kindergarten than children with disabilities. While these findings help advance present understanding of the differences in perceptions of childcare providers and kindergarten teachers on school readiness, further research is recommended to replicate results and delve deeper into the reasons behind the differences. Results of this study also emphasize the need for better communication of kindergarten expectations and for teaching social and behavioral skills necessary to help children make a smooth kindergarten transition.

Some of these studies were investigating graduate students' perceptions about the concepts of standards and accreditation. Others were about teachers' perceptions of standards and their awareness and ability to implement national standards. These studies were conducted in different places and under different circumstances. Other studies were conducted in the United States with different participants using different methods of data collection. However, no study has been conducted specifically examining faculty members' perceptions of educational standards. The participants of the studies in the literature were either graduate students, pre-service teachers, or teachers. This study contributes to the literature by conducting the study in the Middle East, specifically in Saudi Arabia.

Complaints expressed as negative electronic word of mouth (nWOM) have a great potential to damage companies accused in these publicly made complaints. This study investigates upon the most effective means for companies to counter nWOM by means of webcare. The results show that a loss of satisfaction and trust as well as negative eWOM behaviour after a service failure can be positively influenced depending on the content of a webcare response (accommodative vs. notice). These effects appear to be mediated by consumers' expectations. Furthermore, although webcare communication strategy (proactive vs. reactive) does not influence satisfaction, trust and negative eWOM behaviour of senders of nWOM, the results show an influence of webcare communication strategy on positive eWOM behaviour. The findings of this study are discussed in the light of the potential of webcare to serve as a tool for online complaint management.

This study aims to analyse the applied crisis management and communication strategies of Volkswagen by evaluating the crisis´ impact on each stakeholder group. To accomplish this, the research adopts a single case study design, and it considers a significant amount of qualitative, secondary data. The research first notes that Volkswagen failed in its crisis management prevention tactics, as it was unable to detect the crisis at an early stage. Moreover, the study reveals that VW implemented several immediate crisis management measures for a quick turnaround management. Instead of concentrating on a specific crisis response theory, it is evident that VW made use of different crisis response strategies. VW took full responsibility for the crisis, promising transparency, but it also shifted the blame onto a small group of employees, suggesting that the company was also the victim of human error. Finally, the study reveals the significant impact of the crisis on each stakeholder group, which reveals that VW struggled to regain stakeholder trust and did not keep its promise of transparency. Karima Belghiti Perceptions of The Need for Pedagogical Training

This book generally raises the issue of the lack of pedagogical training in Moroccan universities. On a more specific level, the study is an attempt to investigate the perceptions of the need for pedagogical training among EFL university teachers. One of the motives behind choosing this topic is the fact that training is not a requirement for recruitment in Moroccan universities. The second motive is the teachers' misconceptions of what makes a good teacher, and how they affect their teaching practices. Through the investigation, the study aims to find out how the teaches' perceptions of the need for training are influenced by their conceptions of teaching and learning, their perceptions of what teaching is, and the way they approach and deal with uncertainties in their teaching. The second purpose of the study is to argue for the need of a pedagogical training that can change the teachers' misconceptions, and that can promote effective EFL teaching practices.

This study explores, describes and analyzes the various characteristics of interproject learning mechanisms and project competencies found in a sample of consulting firms in Sweden. The study focuses on the perceived importance of different interproject learning mechanisms and their perceived impact in developing project competencies in consulting firms. The study interrogates the 'perceptions' of 'key' informed project management practitioners, who have experience of managing projects. Their perceptions about project activities in their respective firms helped capture a 'managerial' and provide an 'expert' view. The study find that the most highly ranked and valued interproject learning mechanisms involved some degree of face-to-face interactions. Learning mechanisms that enable the capture, storage and transfer of explicit knowledge, though important, were not ranked highly in importance as person-to- person communication. The difference might be due to the efficient way the latter mechanisms have in transferring socially embedded and context-dependant tacit knowledge, which comprise a large part of knowledge applied in projects.

Seminar paper from the year 2013 in the subject Communications - Public Relations, Advertising, Marketing, Social Media, grade: 1,0, University of Duisburg-Essen (Wirtschaftswissenschaften), language: English, abstract: For many organizations the alignment between social media and organizational culture is a massive challenge because these two concepts do not match in general. The integration of social media in organizations demands preliminary change-oriented cultures which, however, often have inflexible structures that prevent changes. In this thesis, there will be an investigation on the effect of social media integration on the organizational culture by use of literature review, with a special focus on the internal communication within organizations. This thesis first defines the term of social media which are very up-to-date but which are used in many cases so that a differentiated point of view has to be taken. In almost the same manner, the term organizational culture is described. This concept, however, is underestimated because the majority of people do not think of an organizational culture when looking at an organization, but they are rather profit-oriented. Thus, it is crucial to consider this social aspect of an organization. The thesis investigates this concept critically. One of the concerned elements in consequence of the combination between social media and organizational culture is the communication within an organization. An integration of social media tec...
