This book tries to fill the gap and presents an optimization problem of commonly used Al-7020 Alloy. Principles of Response Surface Methodology (RSM) have been implemented through Minitab software to bring necessary multi-response optimization, while turning on a CNC turner. The present study focuses on to enhance Material Removal Rate (MRR) while simultaneously reducing the Surface Roughness (Ra), during turning of Al-alloy. Such opposite natured response optimization is much difficult to achieve, particularly when uncoated carbide tip has been used as a cutting tool. Intensive literature survey helps to pin point parameters like; Cutting Speed, Feed Rate and Depth of Cut as a most critical to machining parameters, as far as effective and efficient optimization of selected responses are concerned. All these control-parameters are directly or inversely related to each other. If the depth of cut is increased MRR increases at the same time we get poor surface finish. Increase in the cutting speed has positive impact on both material removal rate and surface finish. Shortlisted parameters are conflicting, so we have to optimize these for further enhancement of the overall turning performance. In the present study, optimization of chromium powder mixed EDM parameters is studied during machining of H13 tool steel. Four input parameters of powder mixed EDM, namely peak current, pulse on time, duty cycle and powder concentration, are varied, each at three levels, to get the optimum responses. Material removal rate (MRR), Tool wear rate (TWR) and Surface Roughness (Ra) are considered as performance measures. Copper electrode of 16 mm is used as the tool. Response Surface Methodology is used to correlate input and output parameters. The variation of responses due to variation in input parameters has been studied and shown in the form of surface plots and contour plots.

By 1960, psychology had come to be dominated by behaviorism and learning theory, which emphasized the observable stimulus and response components of human and animal behavior while ignoring the cognitive processes that mediate the relationship between the stimulus and response. The cognitive phenomena occurring within the "black box" between stimulus and response were of little interest to behaviorists, as their mathematical models worked without them. In 1960, the book "Plans and the Structure of Behavior," authored by George A. Miller, Eugene Galanter, and Karl H. Pribram, was published. In this volume, Miller and his colleagues sought to unify the behaviorists' learning theory with a cognitive model of learned behavior. Whereas the behaviorists suggested that a simple reflex arc underlies the acquisition of the stimulus-response relationship, Miller and his colleagues proposed that "some mediating organization of experience is necessary" somewhere between the stimulus and response, in effect a cognitive process which must include monitoring devices that control the acquisition of the stimulus-response relationship. They named this fundamental unit of behavior the T.O.T.E. for "Test - Operate - Test - Exit".

Near-field microwave microscopy has been used as a non-destructive tool for current distribution mapping in high-Tc superconductors and other conducting films at room temperature. The focused microwave emitted from the tip of a near-field scanning microwave microprobe is absorbed in the thin film in a small spot of size approximately same as the size of the probe tip. The heat will spread into the adjacent regions in the thin film sample through thermal diffusion. The temperature rise due to local heating will lead to the change in the local resistivity of the sample which results in a voltage response depending on the local current density and the input microwave power. The map of voltage response acquired while the microwave probe scans the film surface can provide information about the surface morphology and the non-uniformity of the electromagnetic properties of the film. Hence in order to understand the absorption of microwave radiation in conducting thin films, a theoretical model based on heat diffusion is developed in this book to determine how the different parameters affect the temperature rise and heat diffusion.

Emergency health care systems are of increasing concern in international healthcare developments and the global fight against the burdens of disease. Studies show that emergency health care improvements in developing countries should focus on ambulance response. Low-cost changes including emergency medical dispatch training in developing urban emergency health care systems can improve ambulance response times. Concerns about focusing on ambulance response time as a single indicator are addressed by showing a case sensitive approach for developing emergency health care systems that in return can identify ambulance response as main indicator for a particular system. This approach has been chosen for the subject of study, the Osh Ambulance Service, a municipal EMS in Kyrgyzstan. This particular service, the implemented research, the study design and, the data analysis are presented. The data show that there has been a change from an average response time of 23, 18 minutes to 20, 15 minutes.
