Research Paper (postgraduate) from the year 2014 in the subject Sociology - Work, Profession, Education, Organisation, , language: English, abstract: The work starts with a single-center retrospective Statistical Study that begins by doing a Ranking of Leading Tunisian Scientists based on their Hirsch Index as computed by Google Scholar MyCitations Database in order to assess the quality and the efficiency of the Leading Tunisian Scientific Range. Then, the information is analyzed. For organizational purposes, the ranking is limited only to Scientists having a Hirsch Index of 15 and more so that the error risk become very narrow and the results would be optimized. The ranking process returned 307 Tunisian Scientists having 15 or more as Lifelong Achievement Hirsch Index. 181 of them are working nowadays in Tunisian Leading Public Universities. As for disciplinary specializations, it is seen that over 41,500 pc. of the Tunisian Scientists considered in the following ranking are working on Medical Sciences. This important influence of Medical Sciences is explained by different reasons. The main reason of this considerable phenomenon is the high impact factor of Medical Journals. But, there are other reasons related to the country itself. Nuclear power is a cheap and traditional form of energy. Therefore, there is a large international supply with a strong demand for it. Nevertheless, there are also big risks in the production of nuclear power. Nuclear meltdowns with far-reaching consequences have occurred in the past, e.g. the well-known meltdown at Chernobyl in 1986 and the newest disturbance at the Fukushima nuclear power station in Japan in 2011. These have provoked a major global, public discussion on the future energy supply from nuclear power stations. In Germany, 17 nuclear power stations supply most households and companies with energy, and 7 of the oldest nuclear power stations are temporarily recaptured from the electrical network. An important consideration regarding the economical shutdowns of nuclear power stations in Germany dominates public workaday life. The alternatives are renewable energies. However, they supply only a small amount of energy. If there is a consideration to shut down nuclear power in Germany, it is significant to do so in an economical manner.

In this work, performances of Fixed Capacitor Thyristor Controlled Reactor, Static Synchronous Compensator, Thyristor Controlled Series Capacitor, Static Synchronous Series Compensator, Interline Power Flow Controller and Unified Power Flow Controller for power system stability enhancement and improvement of power transfer capability is analyzed. Behavior of a transmission system upon the addition of compensating devices is also studied. The changes in the behavior of the compensators for a change in their parameter values are then obtained and the best rating of compensators to deliver optimum results is found out. The simulation results demonstrate the improvement in the performance of the system for each of the above FACTS controller in terms of power profile and voltage stability. The results are then compared to determine the best controller for a given operating condition.
