The aim was to find the prevalence of nursing caries in Davangere preschool children and its relationship with feeding practices and socioeconomic status of the family. A total of 813 children aged 2-6 years were screened for the present study from randomly selected three kindergarten schools each from Government, Government aided, and private managements. Clinical examination was done inside the respective schools. At the time of examination, a proforma was filled for each child comprising of DFS index. The questionnaire by Winter et al. was modified and used .The completed proformas were statistically analyzed to find if any correlation existed between the nursing caries to the feeding practices and socioeconomic status of the family. There is a strong and significant relationship between the severity of nursing caries and the degree of feeding abuse. Children from low socioeconomic status have increased early childhood caries.Nursing caries were more in children who were taking a feeding bottle to bed at night and were increasingly seen in large families and lower socioeconomic groups.

The purpose of this empirical inquiry of state-recognized "Honor Schools of Excellence"was to explore how these schools of distinction are (or are not) promoting and supportingboth academic excellence and systemic equity for all students. In Phase One, quantitative datawere collected through equity audits to scan for and then document systemic patterns of equityand inequity across multiple domains of student learning and activities within 24 schools. InPhase Two, the 24 schools were ranked, based solely on minority achievement, and then separatedinto two types of schools, small gap (SG) schools and large gap (LG) schools. Through sitevisits (n=16) and the use of semi-structured interviews with principals, assistant principals, teachers, and parent leaders (n=80), qualitativedata were then collected to document best practices and effective strategies that principals use to confront and change past practicesanchored in open and residual racism and class discrimination. The data were analyzed through the theoretical framework of academicoptimism.Three differences between the SG schools and the LG schools were found (encouraging academic achievement, offeringinstructional feedback, and expecting excellence). Over the past decades educational and political leaders attempted to improve school performance. Yet still, there remain immense gaps in academic achievement between schools with high and low poverty rates. The expected gains to close the gap have not been achieved by the policies implemented, nor from the threats of sanctions for districts, school leaders, and teachers. The purpose of this quantitative study was to answer a primary question: Can specific leadership influence (LI), collective teacher efficacy (CTE), and socioeconomic status (SES) predict either alone or in combination, student achievement scores in Title I elementary schools? The study investigated the constructs' effects exclusively among Title I elementary schools. The focus of analysis in this study included 23 Title I Schools. Among the schools, 308 teachers responded to the Collective Teacher Efficacy Scale and 265 responded to the Principal Instructional Management Rating Scale. Multiple regression analysis determined LI, CTE, and SES, together, were significant predictors of student achievement, explaining 65.2% of the variability in reading scores and 48.9% of the variability in math scores.

The study was designed to investigate public perception about non-governmental organizations' (NGOs) contribution in providing basic education opportunities in Peshawar. A comparative study of public, private and NGO schools was conducted to explore the issue at hand. The collected data were statistically analyzed and association among the three groups was calculated. It was found from the data that more than 44% of the respondents chose public schools, where as about 31% opted for private schools and nearly 25% relied on NGO schools for their children. Out of those whose choice was NGO schools i.e. 55% were from poor households. As a whole 67% of the respondents were against the involvement of NGOs in education sector. Nearly 72% of the NGO schools were providing free primary education and the remaining 28% were imparting technical education as well. The respondents in general viewed that NGO schools were improving literacy rate and lessening the burden of the government, however, they believed that the quality of education at NGO schools could be improved if these schools were properly supervised.

Current research illustrates that some schools, often referred to as high-performing, high-poverty schools, have led their low-income populations to high levels of achievement (Ambrose, 2008). Hypothesizing that some schools were doing quite well with students from low-income families, the director for the Center for Urban Studies at Harvard University, Ronald Edmonds and other researchers looked at achievement data from schools in major cities around the country where student populations were from high-poverty areas. During the 1980s a list was developed that identified common characteristics that were present in effective schools. These traits became known as the Correlates of Effective Schools. These correlates appeared repeatedly in high-performing schools, despite the schools' socioeconomic levels (Lezotte, 1991). Research regarding high-poverty, high-performing elementary schools specifically located in South Carolina is limited. The purpose of this research was to learn how principals of high-poverty, high-performing elementary schools in South Carolina promote high levels of student achievement.
