The e-Home system consists of an adaptive intelligent network of wireless sensors for activity monitoring with a central context-aware embedded system. The primary goal of this thesis is to investigate unsupervised prediction and clustering possibilities of user behaviour based on collected time-series data from infrared temperature sensors in the e-Home enviroment. Three different prediction approaches are described. Hourly Based Event Binning approach is compared to two clustering algorithms, Hierarchical Clustering and Dirichlet Process GMM. Prediction rates are measured on data from three different test persons. This thesis first examines two different approaches for event detection from infrared signal data. In a second stage three different methods for unsupervised prediction analytics are discussed and tested on selected data-sets. Clustering algorithms parameter settings for time-series data have also been discussed and tested in detail. This work constitutes of the Tensile strength and compression strength of 2% ,4% and 6% of Aluminum oxide filler addition with 20%(constant) Chopped E-glass fiber(3mm in length) reinforcement epoxy composite materials .An attempt has been made to develop 2%,4% and 6% of Aluminum oxide filler addition with 20%(constant) Chopped E-glass fiber(3mm in length) reinforcement epoxy composite materials with low density and economical, according to ASTM D638 Type IV Standard and ASTM D - 1621. using resin -LY556 as a matrix material and hardener -HY 951 with 20% Chopped E-glass fibre(3mm in length) as the reinforcement material with different % of aluminum filler addition using hand layup fabrication technique. It is found that appreciable improvements in Tensile strength,Hardness number compression strength properties of 6% of Aluminum oxide filler addition with 20%(constant) Chopped E-glass fiber(3mm in length) fibers reinforced epoxy composites when compared with 4% and 2% Aluminum oxide filler addition.

Master's Thesis from the year 2013 in the subject Physical Therapy / Occupational Therapy, grade: 1, , course: Sports Physiotherapy, language: English, abstract: To compare the mean percentage improvement in coordination, strength and disability in overhead throw athletes with partial thickness tear of the rotator cuff following plyometric training in different phases of rehabilitation.A total of 30 male overhead throwers suffering from partial thickness tear of the rotator cuff injury, on the basis of inclusion criteria were taken in the study. A full description of the study, including the selection process was explained to each patient. Documented consent was obtained from each patient. Group 1 consisted of athletes with history of rotator cuff injury one and half year back and group 2 included athletes with rotator cuff injury three months back. Coordination , strength and disability were assessed pre and post plyometric training for a period of three weeks and the mean percentage of improvement were compared in both the group following plyometric training.Results-.intragroup analysis showed a significant improvement in coordination, strength with the level of significance (p<0.05). Discussion & Conclusion -group 1 showed an improvement in the mean percentage in coordination, the strength of supraspinatus muscle , and bench press when compared to the group 2. Retrofitting method using fiber with high tensile strength namely Aramid and Carbon has successfullyproven increasing both shear strength and ductility of reinforced concrete structural members. The drawback of these fibers is its low fracturing strain property which causes brittle failure at the time the fiber breaks. This book focuses on fiber with high fracturing strain and low tensile strength such as PET as retrofitting material for reinforced concrete specimens representing bridge piers tested under reversed cyclic loading. PET fiber breakage did not occur and higher shear capacity and ductility were obtained compared to that of specimens retrofitted with Aramid and Carbon. The high fracturing strain property allows bigger tolerance of fiber breakage resulting in slower decrease of shear strength capacity. Models to predict shear strength capacity and deformation with the key variable of increasingfiber strain as a representation of structural member deterioration are proposed and show good prediction of experimental result. The results should provide valuable information for civil engineer, construction company and industry specializing in structural retrofitting."

Maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) refers to the maximum amount of oxygen that an individual can utilize during intense or maximal exercise. The purpose of this thesis is to develop accurate VO2max prediction models using submaximal and questionnaire variables. Regression methods such as Support Vector Machines (SVM), Multilayer Perceptron (MLP) and Multiple Linear Regression (MLR) have been used for developing VO2max prediction models. The performance of prediction models has been evaluated by calculating their multiple correlation coefficients (R's) and standard error of estimates (SEE's). The results show that the accuracy of VO2max prediction models based on submaximal and standard non-exercise variables could be significantly improved by including questionnaire variables in prediction models. The results of SVM models have been also compared with the ones obtained by MLP and MLR and it turned out that SVM-based VO2max prediction models perform better (i.e. yield lower SEE's and higher R's) than the prediction models developed by other regression methods.

Statistical correlation functions are a well-known class of statistical descriptors that can be used to describe the morphology and the microstructure-properties relationship. A comprehensive study has been performed for the use of these correlation functions for the reconstruction and homogenization in nano-composite materials. Correlation functions are measured from different techniques such as microscopy (SEM or TEM), small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) and can be generated through Monte Carlo simulations. In this book, different experimental techniques such as SAXS and image processing are presented, which are used to measure two-point correlation function correlation for multi-phase polymer composites. Higher order correlation functions must be calculated or measured to increase the precision of the statistical continuum approach. To achieve this aim, a new approximation methodology is utilized to obtain N-point correlation functions for multiphase heterogeneous materials. The two-point functions measured by different techniques have been exploited to reconstruct the microstructure of heterogeneous media. Statistical continuum theory is used to predict the effective thermal conductivity and elastic modulus of polymer composites. N-point probability functions as statistical descriptors of inclusions have been exploited to solve strong contrast homogenization for effective thermal conductivity and elastic modulus properties of heterogeneous materials. Finally, reconstructed microstructure is used to calculate effective properties and damage modeling of heterogeneous materials.

Shear strength of sands is somewhat simpler than that of clays, which are complex materials exhibiting engineering behaviour difficult to predict. Shear strength of clays depends of water content, drainage conditions, rate of loading and degree of compaction.Unconfined compression tests were performed on cylindrical samples compacted at different remoulded densities chosen from the compaction curves of the soil. Proctor compaction tests were performed on the soil at three different compaction energies corresponding to N=25, 35 and 50. Dry densities of test samples corresponding to water contents of 10%,12% and 14% were chosen from the three compaction curves pertaining to N=25,35 and 50. Remoulded cylindrical samples were prepared for the performance of unconfined compression tests at the above dry densities and water contents. Stress strain characteristics, variation of peak compressive stress with significant parameters were studied.

In recent years composites have attracted substantial importance as a potential structural material. The most basic and common attractive features composites that make them useful for industrial applications are low cost, light weights, high specific modulus, renewability and biodegradability. Rice Husk ceramics composites are an important area of interest these days for development of new composite materials. These composites are gaining importance due to their non-carcinogenic and bio-degradable nature. Keeping this in view the present research work has been under taken with an objective to explore the use of rice husk ash as potential filler in polymer composite and to study its wear behavior. To study the wear properties the components made from these rice husk ceramics is subjected to wear test using a Pin-on-Disc apparatus. Experiments have been conducted under laboratory conditions to asses the wear behaviour of the rice husk ceramic composites in polymer matrix. From these experimental result we can also draw a fair amount of conclusion about their mechanical behaviours also i.e under stress and tensile test, hardness test etc.
