Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR)is an important tool for geosciences,remote sensing, surveillance,& reconnaissance now a day. In this work,a definition of UWB SAR image quality measurements is presented and the measurements for the UWB SAR images are performed. The most important SAR image quality assessments are spatial resolution, differential resolution, ISLR and PSLR. It is seen that elliptic areas are more suitable for delimitation of mainlobe and sidelobe areas of a UWB SAR image than rectangular areas for measurements of ISLR and PSLR. For this purpose a newly defined Impulse Response Function (IRF-SAR) is used instead of the widely used sinc function. In this book, the simulated CARABAS-II data is employed and the simulations are performed by Matlab. Global back projection (GBP), a time domain algorithm is used due to its time-domain characteristics such as extreme range migration handling and manageable motion compensation. But its main limitation is computational cost. This book uses a simple and causal writing style to presents the SAR image quality measurements pleasantly and nicely so that readers can enjoy it easily.

As Jovian S-bursts are planetary non-thermal radio emissions with a very intrinsic substructure characteristic, it is necessary to focus on the waveform of these signals. Common techniques suffer on one hand from the methodology itself (e.g. Fourier) and on the other hand cannot achieve enough time-frequency resolution. The wave initiated by the emission phenomena, the cyclotron maser instability, gets modified through its propagation till the antenna and then further on through the receiver chain. All these effects have been carefully taken into consideration. The waveform receiving system WFR is a fully digital broadband kind of transient recorder. It operates at the borders of at present technology possibilities. Observation campaigns with this device have been carried out at Nancay (France) and UTR-2 (Ukraine). The data obtained are unique since it is possible for the first time to work on broadband waveforms of received S-bursts. Various data analysis techniques, as for example Wavelet transform, show up the possibilities as well as the problems obtained by this procedure. Finally possible future projects like the usage of the WFR for broadband VLBI or for space applications are discussed.

Linear estimates of hydrodynamic and morpho-dynamic parameters during passage of different storms were analysed and are explained in this book to demonstrate the potential of radar measurement in capturing essential characteristics of coastal dynamics. Radar image provides instantaneous distribution of wave crests, with image sequence comprising a clear spatial and temporal variation of the wave pattern. A sequence of radar images was used to estimate water depths using linear dispersion relationship. Analyses on radar echo images were done to estimate temporal and spatial variation of water fronts by digitizing time stack images. Longshore distribution of mean shoreline positions and inter-tidal foreshore slopes were also estimated using time averaged images. Wave run-up was estimated from the digitized water fronts with the help of foreshore profile. The study will provide better understandings about radar imagery in nearshore areas. The book is design for lay readers to advanced researchers. Lay readers will get information about radar images, its structures and simple modelling techniques, whereas the researchers will be benefited in detailed estimation of nearshore parameters.

In this study, the problem of optimal resource allocation in real-time systems is studied. A recently proposed resource allocation approach called Q-RAM (Quality of Service based Resource Allocation Model) is investigated in detail. The goal of the Q-RAM based approaches is to minimize the execution speed in real-time systems while meeting resource constraints and maximizing total utility. Phased array radar system is an example of a system. In this system, multiple targets are tracked by the radar system simultaneously requiring processor and energy resources of the radar system. In the present study, first, the Q-RAM solution approach to the radar resource allocation problem with single resource type is extended to give a global optimal solution in all possible termination cases. For the case of multiple resource types, the Q-RAM approach can only generate near-optimal results. In this study, for the formulated radar resource allocation problem with multiple resource types, the Methods of Feasible Directions are considered as an alternative solution approach.
