Shrestha Bhattarai Jamuna The KAP Level of Female Adolescents on SRH in Rural Sri Lanka

This book provides detail information about the KAP level of female adolescents on SRH in Rural Communities of Srilanka. It is of high interest to get to know the Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) level and health seeking behavior of adolescents and to see how they deal with the respective health problems, particularly in rural Sri Lanka. The lack of adequate information sources, self awareness among adolescents and access to services in the community are the main determinants for the low KAP level among adolescents with regard to RH-related issues. The unavailability of specific ARH service centers were found to be one of the main factors affecting adolescents' health service seeking behavior in these areas. Similarly, doubt of breaking confidentiality when visiting the facility and receiving services were prevailing. This is another discouraging factor for Adolescents' SRH seeking practice. Due to the unavailability of friendly health services, constantly existing traditional beliefs and social norms and the lack of sensitivity toward SRH among parents, adolescents are being discouraged to visit HF.

For thousands of years, religion has been a key element of human societies. Wheneverwe, as educators, exclude or minimize religion's vast role in society, we leave out alarge part of our world's shared history. This is a serious act of educational omission, even neglect, on the part of our nation's public middle and secondary schools, particularly when adolescents are so ready to engage in meaningful conversation aboutthe world that surrounds them. Our book's central purpose is to provide middle-leveland high school teachers with the necessary background knowledge and pedagogicalskills necessary to help adolescents become religiously literate learners and citizens.Currently, there is no text like ours on the market that both covers a number of worldreligions, and presents concrete recommendations for teaching and learning thismaterial. Our book is meant to educate the following audiences: teacher educators,middle-level and high school teachers in all content areas, administrators, schoolboards, and parents. For us, educating for religious literacy is all about bringing adolescents into the 21st century of teeming religiousand spiritual diversity-a long-neglected component of the multicultural curriculum in public schools. In a post-9/11world, religious literacy requires that students understand the whats and whys of differing religious beliefs, both in theirown country and elsewhere. Zoran Vujisic RELIGIOUS ORIENTATION AND MENTAL HEALTH

A number of previous studies have underscored the issue of accommodating religious clients in secular counseling settings. However, there have been few studies that have methodically researched whether religious orientation is associated with client preference for the inclusion of a religious module in the counseling process. Available data appears to indicate that there is a lack of sensitivity among mental health professionals regarding religious orientation and the role that religion plays in the lives of clients. This study examined client preference for the inclusion of spiritual / religious issues in the counseling process. The results, which confirm the case for inclusion, represent yet another step in disentangling the mystery of the relationship between spirituality, religion, counseling, psychological treatment, and mental health. The findings offer insight into the importance of spiritual / religious issues for clients at the clinical level and have implications for diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. There are also important implications related to counselor / therapist education and training.

When did we start referring our brothers and sisters to the world for counseling? When did Christian counselors stop believing that His Word had everything we need for life and godliness? When did they start going to the world for their guidance and approved methodology for counseling? Psychiatry and psychology have consistently asserted that people should be "salvaged" from the chains of religious upbringing and moral restraint. However, studies show positive moral and emotional benefits for those with religious faith. Churches and parishioners taking back control of their religions from psychiatry and psychology will accomplish the return to a morally and spiritually strong society. This is a very practical book not only for lay leaders and pastoral counselors, but for every Christian who desires to help their brethren who has suffered under the hands of secular psychology and psychiatric drug addiction.

Patricia Mawusi Amos Problems of Adolescents and Self-Concept

There are a number of transitions and crises periods in the life span of every individual and adolescence represents one of these periods where great strain and sometimes confusion results. In the Winneba municipality in Ghana for instance, it has been noted that majority of the students in the senior high schools, come from different regions who attend school in this municipality. As a result, it has been noted that they spend most of their time with their peers than with their parents; since they are resident students. In view of that it is assumed their peers have great influence on their behaviours. It is upon this note that the researcher would like to investigate into peer support mediating adolescents' psychosocial problems and their self-concept. This analysis should help counsellors to be aware of the prevailing psychosocial problems of adolescents in the municipality and thereby find ways of improving their services to assist them in their schools. It should help create the awareness of parents, teachers and guidance and counselling coordinators about the extent to which the peer group influence the adolescents' self-concept and also the need to develop the self-concept.

Dr. Corey introduces the techniques that he draws from in his own integrative approach to counseling using a wide variety of case examples with diverse clients. Topics covered include assessing presenting issues; developing a productive working alliance; establishing therapeutic goals; understanding and addressing diversity; working with resistant clients; using evidence-based practice in cognitive, emotive, and behavioral work with clients; dealing with transference and countertransference; and incorporating trends in integrative therapies. To encourage active learning, reflective exercises throughout the text provide readers with opportunities to put themselves in the role of therapist and client. “No one knows more about theory-based counseling than Gerald Corey, who has spent the past 50+ years helping us to gain real insight into multiple models. In this book, Corey takes readers from forming a working alliance with clientsthrough the processes for setting and achieving goals. His skill at and understanding of the termination processes is worth the entire book. Not only will The Art of Integrative Counseling be the core text for counseling process and skills courses, it will provide the foundation for effective, truly integrated counseling throughout one’s career.” —James Robert Bitter, EdD, East Tennessee State University “Gerald Corey’s fourth edition of The Art of Integrative Counseling provides important concepts to consider when developing an integrative approach to working with clients. Sankar Soumya, George Pulinikunnathil Reeja, Kamal P. J. Raj Organisational Role Stress Among Veterinarians

This book deals with role stress perceived by the veterinarians in Kerala. Veterinarians of the Department of Animal Husbandry play a major role is in carrying out various developmental activities in this sector. They have been traditionally involved in treatment of animals and of late they have the additional responsibility of carrying out project work associated with implementation of schemes in the animal husbandry sector in the panchayat where they work. Consequently the responsibility and work load of an average veterinarian has increased considerably and the veterinarian is placed in a position where he has to play more than one role. In such cases if the role occupant is unable to balance the two roles it may lead to inadequate performance of either role, or role stress which could affect the productivity of the veterinarian. Thus from the point of view of the organization it is important to study the nature and type of stressors of the veterinarians in the state and its influence on job and social commitment.

A volume in Lifespan LearningSeries Editors Paris S. Strom, Auburn Universityand Robert D. Strom, Arizona State UniversityTeaching adolescents and learning from them is the paradigm elaborated throughout this secondedition of Adolescents in the Internet Age. The premise is based upon four assumptions: (1) Adolescentshave unique experiences that qualify them as the most credible source on what growing up is like in the currentenvironment; (2) Adolescents are more competent than many adults with tools of technology that willbe needed for learning in the future; (3) Adolescents and adults can support mutual development by adoptingthe concept of reciprocal learning; and (4) The common quest of adolescents to gain adult identity couldbe attained before employment.Expectations are the theme for every chapter. The reason expectations are so important is becausethey influence goals, determine priorities, and are used to evaluate progress and achievements of individualsand institutions. When teacher expectations correspond with the abilities and interests of students, achievement and satisfaction are common outcomes. In contrast, if teachers expect too little, student potentialcan be undermined. There is also concern if expectations that students have for themselves surpass their abilities. This occurs if teachers do notinform students about their deficits. Multitasking, doing too many things at the same time, detracts from productivity.
