In the third part of the book Emerson's Blended Value approach is brought in. His 'Blended Value Proposition' pursues a similar idea as Porter, except it focuses on the impact of financial markets on sustainable growth, rather than actual business activities themselves. Emerson's argumentation about the impact of microfinance and investments in social enterprises on sustainable profit generation is illustrated in more detail by using the example of Calvert Foundation as a sustainable investment fund. Dabei werden verschiedene Methoden betrachtet, zum einen das DCF- (Discounted Cashflow) und zum anderen das Multiplikatorenverfahren. Der Enterprise Value - auch bekannt unter Brutto-Unternehmenswert, Asset Value, Firm Value oder Aggregate Value - beschreibt den Wert des gesamten operativen Geschäfts eines Unternehmens. Vereinfacht gesprochen ist der Enterprise Value der Wert des Unternehmens ohne Finanzschulden und ohne liquide Mittel. Aus diesem Grund wird der Wert auch als „cash and debt free" bezeichnet. Sowohl das DCF- als auch das Multiplikatorenverfahren sollen zu einem fairen Enterprise Value führen. Dem Verkäufer steht jedoch nur der Equity Value als Kaufpreis zu und nicht der Enterprise Value. Der Equity Value beschreibt den Marktwert des Eigenkapitals. Bei börsennotierten Unternehmen entspricht dieser Wert dem Produkt aus Aktienanzahl und Aktienkurs, der sogenannten Marktkapitalisierung.
